I don’t shop much at The Body Shop. There are only a few things I like from there – the Tea Tree Oil face wash is fast becoming a necessity – and this shower gel is one of them.
The Lavender Body Wash by The Body Shop is one of the nicer lavender based body washes or shower gels I’ve tried.
I like the smell of lavender. It relaxes me especially if I’ve had a long day at work. So, having a nice lavender infused shower gel is really useful. The smell of lavender in this body wash from The Body Shop is strong and smells pure not powdery. I realised that pure lavender oil has a sharp but soothing smell, after purchasing a bottle of pure lavender essential oil from Australia once. It told me that those powdery smells I’d been smelling before weren’t quite 100% essential oil as claimed.
Despite the strong smell in the shower gel, it doesn’t linger much on the skin which is a pity because I rather like the smell on the skin. It does however, leave the bathroom smelling really good. The shower gel is thick and lathers up nicely so you don’t need much to shower with, and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry either. That’s good because this doesn’t come cheap either!
A 250ml bottle retails for about RM36.90 at all The Body Shop stores. Pricey, so I only use it sparingly and only occasionally.
Pros: Nice lavender scent, lathers up well, not drying
Cons: Smell doesn’t linger on the skin, quite expensive

I don’t have the heart to buy TBS shower gels because they’re soooo expensive! But I’d love to buy if the shower gel available in Amorito scent 😀

If you like the Lavender body wash, you should try the Limited Edition Green Tea wash as well – smells absolutely heavenly, and cheaper than the Lavender wash…plus it’s on sale! 😉

Indira: Yes they are so expensive so I only buy this scent at any one time. I love it.
Beetrice: I sniffed at the green tea but it smelt too “green” for me. Sticking to lavender for now. hehe

Hi PB, sorry I haven’t updated you in the past, but I have trouble reading your articles past the jump. I have to keep scrolling up and down to see bits and pieces of the rest of the aritcle. Only experiencing this on Firefox, but no problems on Safari. Hope that helps.

Monstro: I had S-kay telling me about this problem too. Apparently, if you are a Mac user, then this is a common problem with Firefox. I checked it out at some Mac forums. But it seems fine in other browsers or on PC type computers. Thanks for the update.

Me too, everytime I get in TBS, I would get out “not buying” anything at all because it is too expensive for a small bottle ! I gave out the “sniff” test most of the time, but because I can’t make up my mind as well, I ended up going out empty handed.
Just as I told Beetrice, I only buy the TEA tree oil for my breakouts and i just bought 2 e/s recently..and that’s it 🙂 I heard Lavender relaxes you and makes you sleep well 🙂 — true?

Hey, I just bought the small 60ml bottle which was on sale at TBS! It was sold together with an Energising Bergamot Body Wash of the same size, both for 50% + extra 10% off 😀 (Original price: RM19.50 for Lavendar & RM19.90 for Bergamot.) Pretty good price for body washes containing essential oil, I’d say. Can’t wait to try them out now, especially after reading your review! 😉

Nikki: YES! I love lavender as a sleep aid. Definitely helps with the calming effects. I wrote about lavender once.
YZ: Ah! I saw that deal too but passed as they were too tiny for me except for travel use maybe. Still, its a great way to try new scents and new products.

I used to use TBS’ grapeseed range (love the grape-y smell) until they discontinued it. 🙁 Can’t stand the rest of the fruit ranges though. 🙂

Ooh, I didn’t know they had a lavender one. Just tried the Body Shop’s Satsuma Body Polish and I love it a lot. Only use the precious drops when I need a pick-me-up though…
