Nars Cosmetics in Malaysia?

April 9, 2008 Paris B 13 Comments

UPDATE 2013: NARS Cosmetics WILL be in Malaysia in November 2013. Read all about it here and my Holy Grail concealer that soon everyone can try right here! More updates will follow.

Are we going to see Nars Cosmetics in Malaysia soon?

A little bird (thanks Monstro!) tells me that Nars will be in Malaysia soon through Ken’s Apothecary. To be honest, my interest in Nars has waned due to inaccessibility and because other than Nars Blushes there isn’t much else I like from Nars.

It will be nice however, to see the brand in Malaysia finally even if I’m expecting very marked up prices. I wonder how much the blush will cost. It costs US$25 (RM80 at an exchange rate of 3.2) and I bought mine from Hong Kong for HKD190 (RM95 at the exchange rate then).

I’m expecting it to cost at least RM120. But we’ll see.

If you like Nars, keep a look out in June 2008. Details will follow as I get them 😉

Update March 2011: Since many people have asked, there is no official word on NARS making its way to Malaysia as of now. When it does, we’ll bring you an update. Until then, you can get them from a few online sites notably strawberrynet (review here) and kissandmakeupny.com (review here).

I think I’d stick to the Kiss and Makeup site you recommended, even though I have yet to try it out. After adding in the postage and handling fees, I reckon it will still be cheaper than the very-likely-marked-up prices in Malaysia.

HK was RM105 end of 07. Somehow, I’d rather pay postage and handling. Benefit and all those brands are wayy too hiked up here. Even more ex than the long standing counter brands in Msia.

My parents are in the States now so I told mom to help me stock up on stuffs =P Heehee

    Hehe, you’re most welcome PB!
I’m SUPER excited as I’ll get to test the blushers out.
And then where I purchase them…Ken doesn’t need to know…:-D

Yeeeears ago, the Ken’s Apothecary standalone store in Bangsar carried many more brands including Nars and L’Artisan Parfumeur. The response to most of the new products except Laura Mercier and Annick Goutal was poor, so they literally halved the number of brands they carried in the stores. There was an article in the business news last year in which the founder mentioned the difficulties of bringing in new brands to Malaysia, and I’ve never quite forgiven the beauty editors of Malaysian women’s magazines for their lack of support. 😛

Tine: I hope you have a better experience with that site than the other girls on the forum! Let us know how you like it if you go for it.

S-kay: Lucky gal! Yes yes get your parents to stock up. Once everything reaches here the price sky rockets.

Monstro: LOL I like the way you think! We should hit Ken’s together and play with the blushes and piss off the SAs 😉

Shryh: Ken’s pulled out Becca too last year or so. I wonder if its to do with the lack of advertising on Ken’s part or our beauty editors who don’t have a clue. You don’t see ads for brands other than the big beauty houses in mags and write ups almost never feature them. Well, I guess thats what blogs are here for! 🙂

I was just about to post the same comment Shryh made on Nars in M’sia. It’s horrible that they pulled out. It’s so damn tough trying to import Dolce Vita! 😛

Becca, Sephora’s pulled out Becca too, unfortunately. I’m really quite surprisedabout it. It’s not all exactly a high end brand of makeup, honestly. Definitely more affordable than Dior/Chanel/YSL.

Let’s hope that the price will be reasonable…100RM is the most tolerable price I think.

geekchic: I’ve never tried Dolce Vita but I wasn’t too impressed by Nars lipsticks. Found them too dry. I don’t quite understand Becca’s appeal honestly and I read about them being pulled out of Sephora too.

Reeka: we’ll have to see I guess. RM100 is about as much as anyone should pay for these blushes.

I thought u said it might be coming in your post (2008). 🙁

Do you have any ideas on how I can get them, the nearest, easiest way possible?

    Thanks 🙂

Unfortunately there is no official word yet on NARS coming to Malaysia. The nearest place you get get it physically is Bangkok and Hong Kong. Otherwise, try Kissandmakeupny.com and Strawberrynet, both of which ship internationally.

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜

It’s my first year doing retail and honestly, I’d never been so busy! The year-end rush is unreal! But busy is good, right? At least that’s what I tell myself 😂

Place your order, and pick up in store or have it delivered.
Had a bit of breather today and put together a little video. Blink and miss my little monster 🐶 helping me shop! Not sponsored but I did receive a gift from L’Occitane, for which my sun-exposed, dry dog-walking skin thanks you!
Haven’t done any Christmas shopping this year. It has only just struck me that it’s but mere days away! 😨 Have you done yours?
