Review: Makeup: Make Up For Ever Lift Concealer

February 28, 2008 Paris B 7 Comments

make up for ever lift concealer

After being rather frustrated with the texture of Make Up Store’s wand concealer, I decided to forsake it and got myself a tube of Make Up For Ever Lift Concealer.

What I like about Make Up For Ever’s (MUFE) Lift Concealer is that it comes in a tube form. I feel its more hygienic as it is a product I use everyday. I use my fingers to apply this concealer although you can also use a brush.

The texture is more runny that that of Make Up Store and I find that the texture is lighter and more liquid. This however translates into light to medium coverage for very dark circles. On days when I have a bad night, it doesn’t quite cover the dark circles. However, on other days, it does it job quite well.

According to the product description on the website:

Lift Concealer hides bags and slight unevenness in skin color in a natural way. Its formula, with a tensine base, improves skin tone and smoothes the lines around the eyes.

It does all it says and is further supposed to have a slight illuminating effect. However, I don’t find this illuminating effect a very prominent feature. I have read about people finding that the concealer sinks into the fine lines around their eyes. However, as I don’t really have that problem at this point in time I am unable to verify it.

I use No. 3 which is a medium tone and I think most people of medium-fair skintone should be able to take this colour. It matches my skintone and looks natural on. After applying on the concealer, I then dust on some loose powder or a light swipe of powder foundation and I’m good to go.

I do find it fades throughout the day which is a pity. Apparently, you can even apply this on top of foundation, like Full Cover, and I think it would help with more coverage. I was told by the sales assistant that you can apply it along the sides of your nose or even on your cheekbones before foundation as it has an illuminating effect. However, I’ll stick to using it as a concealer for the under eye area.

A 15ml tube retails for RM70 and is available at Make Up For Ever counters which are presently found at U Parkson (1 Utama New Wing) and KLCC (Centre Court by British India). I think the price is fair as a little bit of product goes a very long way, and I can see one tube lasting a long long time as I only use it for my under eye area. I use Full Cover for all other blemishes and I’m still finishing up my first tube after nearly a year! As it fades I’m not likely to repurchase this concealer so its back to the drawing board for me!

Pros: Reasonable price, hygienic packaging, good coverage
Cons: Fades throughout the day, Coverage can be a little thin

I agree, I tested this at the counter a while back, and found that the coverage wasn’t good enough for my dark circles. Am now using the Shu eye concealer. That’s working out pretty well for me!

Jojoba: Hi! Actually, there is one MUFE product I LOVE! I’ll be writing about it soon 🙂

Monstro: Glad to know you found one that worked for you. I’m allergic to some Shu Uemura stuff so I’m staying clear of that brand

Aaarggghhh!!! I can’t wait to get to KLCC to check out the MUFE stand! The boy will just have to wait else where 😛

We get MUFE here in Australia also, ironically it is a makeup school here in Adelaide that stocks it nationally 😛 But it’s just cheaper to buy in M’sia! As with most things…
