I’d been following the on-going discussion between S-Kay and Jessie below with great interest, regarding the new Bobbi Brown collection. Coincidentally, yesterday, I happened to chance upon a reference to a Pink Quartz Shimmerbrick. I did a review of the Bobbi Brown shimmerbricks once on my old site, and I thought I’d imported it here but apparently I did not! So, look out for a revamped review of the Bobbi Brown Shimmerbricks soon.
Anyway, what with Jessie and S-Kay’s comments and reading about a new shimmerbrick, I knew I had to do some research on this. Pink Quartz Shimmerbrick (RM145)
This looks like it might be pretty. However, knowing how sheer (and shimmery) the shimmerbricks are, I wonder if it might be like the Pink shimmerbrick which tends to be just pure shimmer with no colour.
Lip Gloss Trio (RM68)
Colours are: Pink Sugar Shimmer, Slopes Shimmer and Buff. More info on Neiman Marcus.
Pink Quartz Mini Brush Set (RM350)
This one looks like it would be a steal. However, I’m only rather concerned about the size of the brushes. Usually, Bobbi Brown’s short handled brushes are just shorter versions of the full sized ones so when they call these Mini, I’m wondering if they are just short-handled or smaller sized overall. Jessie also made reference to some brush sets of which I found the following:
10 brush set with case (RM950)
These look more like the real deal i.e. short handles but on a full size brush head. This is reflected in the price too. Ouch! More info on Neiman Marcus.
7 Short Brush set with case (RM550)
This one is a smaller version of the 10 piece set. Short handles with full size head. Honestly, I think this makes more sense for me because it contains most of the brushes one uses everyday and makes an awesome gift for someone because a good set of brushes can literally last you your whole life. Actually, I do remember the 2 short handled brush sets above coming out last year too, also around the end of the year. It looks like it might be a seasonal offering from Bobbi Brown – just nice for the woman in your life… or for myself of course! I missed out on them last year. I’m wondering if I should check them out this year because I have been wanting the Face Blender Brush for my shimmerbricks.
And finally, while browsing Neiman Marcus for all the detailed information on the products that you see here, I came across this – the Mother of all brush sets.
This is an exclusive Luxe Brush Collection by Bobbi Brown. This brush collection features 10 luxurious brushes hand-crafted with 24-karat gold accents and ebony handles abd comes in a collector’s edition box crafted in genuine leather including a portable leather case for travel.
It also retails for US$650 (RM2,275). Super Ouch! I’m not anticipating that we’ll see this here any time soon though. Probably makes a great gift for that makeup afficionado who has (nearly) everything… 😉
Too bad the only brushes I use are blush brush and eyeshadow brushes =P Or else I would love to get the 7 Short Brush set

I am so in love with the mother of al brush sets! Makes my cheapo brush set look tacky in comparison. LOL!
the only things missing in the mother-so-so is the kabuki and eye shader. and diamonds heh
this is jojoba from MUA. i have to comment on these brushes. i have a set that looks a lot like your Pink Quartz Mini Brush Set (RM350)and mine was black and also 350 and i am very sure that they are the same thing. i got it last year. you can see it in my profile in MUA.
the size of the bristles are the same as the full sized but only with short handles. i don’t reach for the face/foundation/concealer brushes but i use the rest almost every day. it’s very useful. i’d say it’s the best buy among the lot as the other 3 sets have longer handles which i dislike with a capital D!
oh by the way, i now don’t reach/like my BB Kabuki as much as i prefer MUFE’s large fan powder/blush brushes or retractable powder/blush brushes!
My god, I love the box that the luxe brushes come in… so yummy…

i heard the SA said that the size of the mini brushes are same with the professionals and short ones. its just only it comes in mini length handles.
i’m using BB’s mini foundation brush… its actually quite easy and nice to use i always need to look very very near to the mirror when i’m make up-ing.. and the handle doesnt poke/touch the mirror like those longer ones..
not bad.. i’m aiming to buy the mini brushes which will be coming out soon~

and the lip gloss trio is not rm68, its rm140. the ones priced at rm 68 EACH are the ones from the pink quartz collection. this trio is supposedly from the holiday collection
