I got a new haircut!
I got bored with my old style which was long and layered and with a long fringe or long bangs. I was quite happy with my long bangs for a while. It made me feel like I looked more elegant. Don’t ask me why. However, I got bored, as I do with my hair after some time and told the hairdresser he could have his way with my hair so long as I looked different and younger. Yes, I’m feeling my age and made it clear I wanted to look younger.
I ended up with a hairstyle quite similar to that worn by Jennifer Garner and Sandra Bullock as below. It wasn’t intentional. I did not even show him a picture!
Anyway, I looked in the mirror after my haircut and saw he had cut my long fringe off. In its place I had a shorter fringe that skimmed my eyebrows. I haven’t had a short fringe in years and years!
I was quite pleased though. I thought I looked younger. And when I met my brother for dinner, he confirmed it. He said I looked about 5 years younger. This, coming from someone who’d happily tell me I looked awful or fat in anything I was planning to wear. So, it being an unbiased opinion, I was quite pleased to achieve my goal.
But I have to agree. Somehow, having a short fringe or bangs as its known in the hairdressing world, does promote the illusion of youth. So, according to my brother, I look like a 5 years younger Japanese girl. Haha… It takes some getting used to when I see my reflection in the mirror or the glass or in shiny surfaces as I walk past. But I’m quite happy with the look, so Yay!

Nice! I need to go for a haircut myself, but I just can’t put my trust in the hairdresser not to give me some weirdly funky haircut…

Yay for you! Bangs do make a person look younger. Unless it’s cut too short, like some celebs do. In that case it’s just ridiculous :p
Wei, show lah, the hair 😛
