Review: Makeup: Lancome Flextencils mascara

April 5, 2007 Paris B 12 Comments

lancome

Note: This product is discontinued

I hardly wore mascara for a long time. The reason was because I tried a few but they all failed miserably on me. I’ve tried Maybelline XXL and Mavala Waterproof mascara, both of which smudged on me and gave me panda eyes. Then, a friend told me she loved Lancome Flextencils mascara. Seeing as I was at a sale picking it up for her, I thought I might as well get one for myself too and see if it fared any better.

To my surprise, I like it! Below is a picture of my stick straight Asian (read: Chinese) lashes.

Here is a mini collage of pictures of my lashes with the Lancome Flextencils mascara (waterproof) after a whole day on.

I curl my lashes with a Shu Uemura curler before I apply mascara. With the other mascaras I have tried thus far, I found that even after curling, as the day wears on, my lashes will revert to their stick straight nature. However, with Lancome Flextencils, my lashes stay curled all day with no smudging

I find it easy to apply as the brush head isn’t very big and the bristles are short so they coat all my lashes with the mascara. Its also very easy to apply and it dries quickly so I haven’t experienced any smudging at all yet, and its been a week. I find that it lengthens a little, but does not really volumise. So I have curled long lashes but not much volume. For a novice like me who usually cannot see my lashes, its enough for now. I will however be looking out for a mascara that lengthens AND volumises.

I got mine in the waterproof version in black. The colour is very black which is good. Its also hard to remove, which is good and bad. Good, as it doesn’t smear during the day, and bad because it can be a pain to remove at the end of the day. However, I remove mine with cleansing oils, which seem to remove anything! So I dont’ have a problem with this one.

As I bought it during a sale, I got mine at RM60. I’m told it retails in store for about RM75 or so but do update me if I’m wrong. Its pretty expensive but so far, its worth it for me!

Pros: Small brush head, Holds my curl, Does not smear

Cons: Expensive, no volume

You can try perming eyelashes – usually around RM30-RM60 which lasts from 2-3 months. 🙂 Perks up the eyes & face without mascara.

Have you tried Sasa’s latest mascara from Japan which claim to be lengthening the growth of eyelashes?

MJ: Perming? Is it painful? My lashes are already so sparse I’m so scared to do anything to them! heh… I haven’t tried Fiberwig (is that the one you mean?) But a friend told me its good so I may try it soon.

It looks good! Lancome stuff is usually good, which is why they are priced the way they are, I guess. I can’t remember which brand it is but one of them actually boasts both staying power and volume…hope you’ll be able to check it out soon. Btw, I’m on EPO now 🙂 Will report any glowing skin if I get any compliments ok 😉

i like lancome tooo..i used to buy 1 and I must admit it is relatively expensive for the price of a mascara.

But it really work. This the the best mascara I’ve ever used. Anyway, due to financial wise, the second option of me is to use Maybelline.

Between, where did you get Lancome for RM 60? Is it a warehouse sales or counter promotion?
