Review: Makeup: Lavshuca Gradually Compact Shiny Sand Beach Summer 2008

About 3 weeks ago, I received the Lavshuca Gradually Eyes eyeshadow palette for Summer 2008 in the mail. It took me a while to get round to using it, but I have been testing it out for a week now and now feel comfortable enough to review it.

This is Lavshuca’s offering for Summer 2008. It is a slim metal palette similar to Stila’s palettes with the gorgeous Lavshuca logo and design embossed in the cover. I checked and the palette is almost exactly the same as Stila’s palettes except that the Lavshuca one is slightly smaller and lighter and Stila’s palette comes with a mirror on the inside.

I got Shiny Sand Beach which is the neutral toned palette. The other palette has shades of blue and turquoise. When I originally wrote about the release of Lavshuca’s summer palette, I mentioned that this one looked a little too warm and that I’d probably get the blue one. However, I realised that I have lots of blue toned colours in my collection and I figured a neutral toned one would be used more often. Anyway, here are my thoughts on this palette.

Aha! Its finally here - my Lavshuca Summer Gradually Compact in 01 - Shiny Sand Beach.

Flourescent light washes everything out so I apologize for the poor quality of the picture. Essentially, its a 6 colour eyeshadow palette in gold and sand tones. The palettes on top are to be placed into the case below. Its a lot smaller than I expected! I got mine online at Ichibankao.com for US$27.90 as Lavshuca isn’t sold outside of Japan at this time.

Kanebo Lavshuca Summer 2008 palettes

Previously, I reviewed Lavshuca by Kanebo eyeshadow singles and decided I did not quite like them. Since then, and because Lavshuca isn’t readily available to me here in Malaysia, I stopped buying anything else from the brand.

Now, I’m rethinking this after seeing pictures of Lavhuca’s Summer 2008 eyeshadow palettes:-

Lavshuca Blue / Cool palette

Lavshuca Gold/Warm palette

The way the palettes are divided, I’d say that the one with the white case is for day and the darker case is for night. I think its so cute for them to be so thoughtful. The day colours are lighter and the night ones darker. I wish there was a way I could test these in person before I decide if I want them, but there isn’t so I might just have to suck it up and get it online later!

I’d probably get the blue palette. The warm one looks a little too warm for me. This is definitely giving the Stila Kitten palette a run for its money in my book!

Review: Makeup: Kanebo Lavshuca eyeshadow

The nice things about Japanese makeup brands is that one brand has many sub-brands, which range from low end products sold in drugstores, to high end products sold in department stores.

Lavshuca is a low end drugstore brand of Kanebo Cosmetics and presently, only found in Japan and some stores in Hong Kong and maybe Taiwan. There are some online stores that sell it too e.g. Sasa or Adambeauty. This brand is new - its only been about a year or so since it was launched.

When a friend went to Japan last year, I managed to get my hands on some eyeshadow singles. Truth be told, I only wanted them because of the cute packaging. How do the Japanese manage to make everything look so cute?!
