How to look good even when you had a bad night?
So you had a bad night. You wake up in the morning and see dark rings under your bleary eyes, and blotchy skin. What do you do?
Well, here’s where makeup can help you.
The key here is to keep things natural. From personal experience, I’ve found that on days when I wake up looking and feeling terrible, light natural makeup is best.
The key items you’ll need are:-

- Concealer
- Foundation
- Highlighter
- A light or nude colored eyeshadow
- Eyeliner
- Mascara
- Light peach or pink blush
And here’s how I put it all together.

Review: Skincare: Kanebo Blanchir Whitening Smoothing Conditioner
I was told about the Kanebo Blanchir Whitening Smoothing Conditioner ( Medicated ) when I visited my regular Kanebo salon for my facial. Its not a new product but its new to me and is recommended for oily skin.
The Blanchir Smoothing Conditioner is actually a treatment. It absorbs oil and mattifies the skin and helps to smooth and skin and reduce pore sizes. Its recommended for night use only and is supposed to help the skin control oil production too. It is only to be applied where needed - usually on the forehead and nose or the T-zone.
Does it mattify? Yes it does. It also makes your skin feel super smooth where you apply it. However, I don’t quite know about the pore reduction and I stopped using it after a while.
However, I’ve since discovered a new use for this cream - pimple cream! Seriously, its one of the best pimple creams I’ve ever come across! One tiny dab of this cream on an inflamed pimple and the next day, its either gone or reduced and the redness is gone. I think its to do with how it dries up the skin around it. You don’t end up with flaky skin like what you get with regular pimple creams like clearasil or oxy - just normal smooth skin with no pimples. Awesome!
Used as a pimple cream, it would take forever to finish so price wise its pretty good. However, it’d be too expensive to buy it just to cure pimples.
Pros: Wonderful for curing pimples, mattifies and smoothens skin
Cons: Expensive

Stay beautiful,
Budget makeup: I only have RM200 for makeup - Part 1
I had a reader email me once to ask me how to buy makeup if she only had RM200 to RM250 to spend on makeup. Well, the point to note here is that good or at least decent makeup doesn’t have to be expensive. You can get some items that are of pretty decent quality at the pharmacy or drugstore and once applied, no one will be any wiser. I’m not kidding!
The nice thing about budget makeup is that it is cheap and often go on sale. So, if you are in the need of a pick-me-up and don’t want to blow a lot of money, just pop along to a pharmacy and pick up a lipstick. You’d be surprised at how much a new lipstick can do to brighten up your day.
I will be doing my personal recommendations for budget makeup over 2 parts so it doesn’t get too long. These brands I mention are easily found in most pharmacies including Guardian, Watson’s, Caring etc and if you have a Sasa, look in there too.
I will start with the Face - foundation and blush.
Review: Makeup: Kanebo Media eyeshadows

Kanebo Media has to carry some of the best cheap eyeshadows there is to offer in the market. I previously reviewed the Kanebo Media UV Makeup base and today, I’m reviewing Kanebo Media eyeshadows.
Kanebo Media is a cheap drugstore offshoot of the Japanese mainstream Kanebo brand. Here in Malaysia, they are found in pharmacies notably Guardian and Watson’s and also Sasa. Online they are sometimes found at Adambeauty.
Don’t be fooled by their low cheap price though, I find that the texture and staying power of these cheap drugstore eyeshadows rival most of the department store brands. Each eyeshadow duo comes with 2 colors - a main color and a lighter highlight shade. You don’t find dark colours, maybe because the Japanese don’t go for dark colors on the eyes but mainly lighter shimmery shades.
The texture is smooth and pigmentation is fairly good. The lighter shades do tend to be on the sheer side though. I have GN-2 (green) and BU-1 (blue) and I find that the green one which is of a newer collection, is slightly more shimmery. However, it isn’t so over the top as to be frosty. I would like it if Media came up with a little palette that had a slightly darker shade in it, for contrast, but I usually just use another colour from my collection, or draw a thick line with eyeliner and smudge it a little for contrast.
If I recall correctly, they retail for slightly over RM20 but Guardian is now running a special promotional price of RM29.88 for 2 eyeshadows. Read All about Shopping! for more info. I’d run out and grab some if I were you!
Pros: Cheap, nice quality, shimmery
Cons: A slightly darker shade for contrast would be good.
