I don’t remember there being much buzz in Malaysia about the Pink Ribbon campaigns this year. It might be because of the present Eid Mubarak/ Eidul Fitr/ Hari Raya Aidil Fitri festive period that is on-going. We got a holiday for 2 days which is very nice :)

Anyway I unearthed another 3 special Pink Ribbon promotional offers by Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder and Clinique. Estee Lauder has been doing Pink Ribbon campaigns for a few years now as I recall and I’m sure most of the companies under their umbrella will have specials too. Here’s what I found.

Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon 2008

Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon 2008

Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss and Tulle Lip Color lipstick set. Pair it with Tulle Lip Liner which comes with a sharpener. Pink lip items from Bobbi Brown’s stable from which a portion of proceeds will be donated towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Estee Lauder Pink Ribbon 2008

Estee Lauder’s offering is a Limited Edition trio of 3 pink lip colours:-

  • Pure Color Bali Rose (Limited Edition)
  • Pure Color Candy
  • Signature Hydra Lustre Rich Berry
  • Pink zippered case

There is also an Elizabeth Hurley Lip Color Collection of 3 pink lip glosses:-

  • High Gloss in Pink (limited edition)
  • High Gloss in Rose
  • High Gloss in Pearl
  • Pink Zippered case

And the one item Estee Lauder has every year, the Jeweled Pink Ribbon pin set with twinkling crystals and is a collectible.

Clinique Pink Ribbon 2008

Clinique Pink Ribbon 2008

Clinique this year too is doing something pink for the lips. I remember when they did that lovely Shimmering Tones blush in Pink tones a few years back. I wanted it so badly and we never got it! I later saw it in Hong Kong but decided then not to get it because it was very light. But that’s another story :)

Clinique’s offering of a Butter Shine lipstick in Ribbon Pink (limited edition) comes with a silvery case. Costing US$16.50 a whopping US$10 is being donated to breast cancer research!

There are a few other brands doing the Pink Ribbon campaign but they aren’t available here at this time - Smashbox, DuWop and Too Faced are a couple more.

I’m not sure if the Pink Ribbon collections by Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder and Clinique will be available here but if they are, it would be great! It would be quite meaningless if we get them only after October right?

Use Eyeshadows Wet for more colour and intensity

Use eyeshadows wet

Bourjois, Bobbi Brown, MAC Pigment

Have you ever rubbed and scrubbed away at an eyeshadow that yields little colour or pigment? Or maybe sometimes you just feel like tossing out an eyeshadow that doesn’t show up much on your skin.

Before you toss it into the bin, try this:-

  • Wet your eyeshadow brush, then squeeze out the water so its just damp.
  • Use your damp brush to pick up colour from one corner of the eyeshadow.
  • Apply it to your eyelid like normal.

A year ago, Bobbi Brown whipped upĀ  lott of hype with the Stonewashed Nudes collection. Personally, I was not super impressed with the collection after viewing it online and even after I tested it in person. 7 brown toned shades of eye colour does not excite me.

Bobbi Brown Shimmering Nudes Eyeshadow palette

For 2008 Bobbi Brown is taking the neutral theme a step further with the Shimmering Nudes collection - 6 beige colours and 1 dark eyeliner. There’s More! Continue reading →

Truly Custom Palettes from Bobbi Brown

Previously, when Bobbi Brown first launched her Metallics eyeshadows, the sets were marketed as “custom palettes“. However, one could not change or mix and match the eyeshadow colours in the palette. All you could do is to choose which palette to purchase in your set.

Now, you can truly create custom palettes from Bobbi Brown.

Bobbi Brown has come up with a whole new set of eyeshadows and blushes in square pans. The eyeshadow and blush textures come in matte and shimmer and the shades are all labeled new. The colours all look muted and neutral, just like the regular line of Bobbi Brown eyeshadows.

The palettes are sold separately and come in 2 forms - square palette that fits 4 and long rectangular palettes that fit 3.

Based on the description on the website, which place the blushes in flip top packaging with “pop out” pans, I reckon they are designed like Make Up For Ever eyeshadows and blush, where there is a hole in the back of the packaging to make it easy to depot. The site doesn’t say if the palette is magnetic. I think its better if it is - its easier to move pans and colours around and less messy than glue.

Bobbi Brown had palettes before this, but their palettes held the whole eyeshadow or blush including its case. That made for a very bulky palette. To be honest, I don’t know what has taken them so long to come up with this concept.

Clearly, consumers like to customize their own palettes - MAC, Stila, Make Up For Ever, all have eyeshadow and blush pans and palettes from way before. Bobbi Brown sure has taken a long time to catch up.

I’d like to check these out when they get here. I don’t expect the colours and textures to be any different from the present collection, but having square pans is a bit of a novelty in Western makeup. Most western brands come in round pans and most Asian brands come in square or angular pans. I’m not sure why it works that way but it does. I’ll post details if I get any.

Stay beautiful,
