Review: Skincare: Eucerin White Solution Whitening Extra Treatment Fluid SPF40

Anyone who’s read my site long enough will know I’m a firm advocate of L’oreal UV Perfect SPF50 as THE BEST sunscreen for me. About a month ago, I picked up a newly launched product from Guardian pharmacy that effectively dethrones the L’oreal UV Perfect as the perfect sunscreen for me, and has placed itself high on my must-have list - Eucerin White Solution Whitening Extra Treatment Fluid SPF40.

The Eucerin White Solution Whitening Extra Treatment Fluid with SPF40 is a mouthful. I’ll just call it Eucerin White Solution Fluid throughout this review. White Solution is Eucerin’s “whitening” range of skincare products and they have had body lotions and facial washes for a while. The Whitening Extra Treatment Fluid is actually a moisturiser with SPF40. The active ingredients for sunscreening and sunblocking are Tinosorb S (chemical) and Titanium Dioxide (physical). For me, SPF40 is good enough for our tropical weather.

The product comes in a 50ml pump bottle and promises that it :-

  • repairs accumulated dark spots, dull & damaged skin inside and outside
  • strengthens sensitive skin with cell-protecting Vitamin E
  • is fragrance free

I quizzed the Eucerin promoter who seemed to know what she was talking about, and she told me that the White Solution fluid is firstly a moisturiser but as it contains SPF40 is good enough to use as sunscreen too. Now, I’m as sceptical of such lofty claims as they come, so I decided to test out the sunscreening properties. There’s More! Continue reading →

Review: Skincare: The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost

Not many skincare products from The Body Shop thrill me. I used to use their Vitamin E cream but it did not work out for me after a while. So, when I first read about how effective The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost was, I was quite sceptical. So sceptical in fact that I only checked it out in the store and put it back because I wasn’t sure the silicone feel would work for me.

A couple of years later, I came across this glowing review on the Vitamin C Skin Boost on Beetrice’s Reviews and something in me snapped. I had to try it!

What this Vitamin C Skin Boost does is to give a boost to the skin of your face. It promises to brighten the face, improve elasticity, neutralise free radicals and soften skin and restore suppleness and strengthens the skin’s natural defence system. All very lofty claims indeed. But what is it really? There’s More! Continue reading →

Say Yes To Carrots

During my last trip to Singapore, I came upon a counter in Watson’s in Ngee Ann city selling a very interesting brand - Yes to Carrots. I’d never heard of it before and there was a whole skincare and body range made with carrots! Yes, the orange vegetable!

I was actually looking for a day moisturiser and contemplated the Day Moisturiser from this brand because it felt light and absorbed well. Besides it is supposed to be paraben-free. (You can read my previous post on parabens)

Yes to Carrots combines vitamins and beta carotene from carrots and other orange based organic fruits and vegetables with dead sea water which is supposed to be rich in minerals. The formulation is light and they are created to be suitable for sensitive skins.

Review: Skincare: Sukin Organics Foaming Facial Cleanser

I got my sister to pick up the Sukin Organics Foaming Facial Cleanser on one of her trips to Singapore. Sukin Organics is only found in certain Watsons in Singapore so she had to traipse all over the place looking for it, much to my gratitude!

The Sukin Organics Foaming Facial Cleanser comes in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The packaging looks very “organic” with its brown container and off white label.

This foaming facial cleanser is supposed to be very gentle with no SLS or parabens in its formula. The ingredient list is also mostly plant based so I reckon it will satisfy all vegans.

This foaming cleanser is in a gel form and pumps out clear. One pump is about enough to wash the face. I must say however, that the texture takes some getting used to if you are used to using foaming facial cleansers from other brands. There’s More! Continue reading →
