I love blue eyeshadow even if its the one colour most people fear. The trick is in wearing it so you don’t look like someone punched you in the eye, or that you just stepped out from the 80′s when blue eyeshadow ruled. I like wearing just a touch of blue on the lid or close to the lash line and then use a grey or black to blend it out.

I recently came across 2 blue eyeshadow palettes I just had to share in a Save and Splurge edition

Do you see how I might have thought so?  :D

Both palettes from 2 different ends of the price spectrum contain interesting blue shadows and good crease and highlight shades.  Lets see how they stack up, briefly.

Hellooo Malaysia!

If the beauty sample box phenomenon had a voice, that is probably what it might say I don’t believe that we, here in Malaysia have yet had access to beauty sample box programs (do correct me if I’m wrong – clearly I’m not always up to date on latest trends ). We’ve sat here at our desks and stewed as we watched our friends across the causeway in Singapore revel in their myriad of beauty box programs, notably Bella Box, Glamabox and a new addition, Vanity Trove.

Well ladies, Vanity Trove has taken the plunge to extend its reach all the way to us, right here in Malaysia! So we in Malaysia now have access to a monthly beauty box subscription service – a phenomenon that’s taken the beauty world by storm. I know you’re wondering if its worth all the hype? I didn’t realise everyone was so crazy over the new Revlon Lip Butters! I ran a quick poll on Facebook and Twitter to see what I should post today and the overwhelming choice was the Lip Butters so here we are!  I swear, sometimes, I think I live under a rock

I’m bringing you just the Revlon Lip Butters in Strawberry Shortcake and Fig Jam because I think they are the two more interesting colours in the range, and 2 quite different textures so I can kill 2 birds with one stone

I’ve got the low down on the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters in my preview post so I’m not going to repeat all that. What I’m going to tell you about today is what I think about these lipbalm-lipstick hybrids that has taken the beauty world by storm.

For full post and images: Enter the Dragon! A-England brings the Dragon legend to life

I was planning to do a whole compilation post of all the nail polishes in the A-England The Legend collection. I just received them recently and have been meaning to showcase them. This is the new collection based on St. George and the Dragon and is, I promise you, one of the best I’ve known. The raves all up and down the interweb are well deserved and considering I’m a real nail polish bozo, you can take it from me – its an awesome collection.

However, I then realised a couple of things. Today is the last day of the Chinese New Year festivities – Chap Goh Meh as we call it here or the 15th day of the Lunar Month. According to chinese calculations, although we celebrated the Chinese New year on January 23rd, the actual 1st day of Spring or “Lap Chun” only came in on February 4th which is, if one is to be pedantic, the official start of the Dragon year. Technicalities aside, to celebrate both of these events, I bring you the A-England polish in Dragon!

For full post and images: Ever had shoes make you feel like a Princess? These Cole Haan Air Talia ones did!

Some days, the stars align in ways I don’t even think about or understand. But when it does, magic happens!

Like when I walked into the Cole Haan store on a whim (I had some vouchers) and realised that there was a sale on and the sale was ending that very day!

Or like when my eyes fell on this pair of shoes from the sale rack.

It looked quite normal on the shelf, until I slipped it on my feet, looked into the mirror and was immediately transformed into a Princess!

Granted the only princesses I know are Disney princesses, but I felt like that moment when Cinderella’s fairy godmother waved her wand, chanted Bippity Boppity Boo! and turned her into a princess. It was like that, except without a fairy godmother, wand nor incantation I just kept staring in the mirror because I’d never seen a pair of shoes make my feet look so dainty and delicate before!

For full post and images: A Powder Sunscreen that Brightens? Laneige Brightening Sun Powder with SPF50+ PA+++ covers both bases

Here’s a product I found absolutely intriguing – powder sunscreen. I just am not sure what to make of it to be perfectly honest. The first one I’d tried is the Laneige Brightening Sun Powder, which is sun protection in the form of a powder compact.

I actually rather like the case. Its a two layered case, but the cover is holographic and at certain angles, like what I’ve just shown, takes on the light of the setting sun. I like how it was so perfect for the product! I used this off and on, trying hard to figure out what I really thought of it, but I still am a little unsure. It straddles the realm of both makeup and sunscreen (skincare) and I am, to be honest, a little confused.

Hail Britannia! Anglophiles will love the look of the Rimmel Glam’ Eyes HD Eyeshadows, which I’d read about online a few months ago. I never thought I’d see them here because, well, I never hold out much hope for anything so everytime we do get a collection or item in, I’m always pleasantly surprised. Better that way eh?

Anyway, I spotted these one day while at a random Guardian Pharmacy trawling the aisles and I decided to pick up both Rimmel palettes on a whim just to see what the fuss was about. If you don’t see them in the top display, look lower – these were hidden on the lowest shelf, towards the back as if it was some illicit drug – I never understand the marketing techniques of some brands. But anyhoo…..

The shades I got were Royal Blue on left and Green Park on right. Green Park in particular, has received widespread raves internationally for being a very nice green and gold palette and above all, being inexpensive with great quality. I naturally had to see if it lived up to the hype

For full post and images: Revlon Age Defying Foundation With DNA Advantage is another firm favourite in my arsenal

Many of you are probably quite familiar with my raves about the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and its gel serum counterpart. But many will also bemoan the fact that this quite lovely foundation just isn’t available locally. Thing is, I may have found a local substitute

But before you break out the pom-poms and cheers, I have to tell you that I hesitate to call this a substitute in a true sense, because I personally feel that this one’s a little more suited for someone with normal to dry skintypes. The foundation in question is the Revlon Age Defying Foundation with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup SPF20.

You may have noticed this in our local pharmacies – the red capped foundation bottle with the helix within the clear plastic case is quite eye catching. I must say at this juncture that I have had pretty good experiences with Revlon base products in the most part. In fact, were I to be asked to recommend a base (whether powder or liquid) easily available at the pharmacies, I’d almost always point you to the Revlon counter. Their products just work well for me, and the Age Defying DNA Advantage Cream Makeup is no exception.
