When you need help with home renovation

My beauty reviews have been slowing down a bit lately because my latest indulgence is home decorating. I have been playing around with the look of my home for a while and I have been collecting some knick knacks from various places I have visited. But it has now only started to come together. I have selected pieces of Sarawak pottery lamps, Balinese wood carvings and pictures waiting to be framed and hung on the walls.

So it was quite opportune that I am writing ConstructionDeal.com Site Reviews. This portal serves as a site where people, whether commercial or residential, with a housing project can source the people and services they need e.g. architects, interior designers and the like. While looking through the site, I even saw they can put you in touch with specialist contractors e.g. wooden flooring, carpets and even window tinting.

The latter item caught my eye because before I moved into my home, I had wanted to get my windows tinted to keep out the sun and UV rays. Living in a tropical climate, it was quite important for me to keep my house cool. If I had a service like that of constructiondeal.com I would have been able to just input the information I need into the query form, and wait to be contacted by the specialists instead of having to hunt them down manually. For now though this portal serves the USA but it would be nice to have something similar locally.

Not to worry though, I am coming back with more beauty reviews. Taking a break from writing reviews does help because I then take time off to root through my stash and find stuff that I might have otherwise overlooked. Good for you and good for me too! ;)

Shopping online for bedroom furniture

I love the look of the bed in this picture. I actually saw it online and I’ve seen something similar in store too. The looks however belie the practicality of it because I found that I would hit my shins every time I wasn’t careful because the sides protrude out a little too far than I’m used to. I suppose that once you get used to having it in your bedroom, it would stop happening. I’ve found that although I’ve seen something similar in store, the prices online seem to be better than that in the store. So, I suppose if you like to shop online and get all your dimensions right, its not too far-fetched to shop for bedroom furniture online. I would advise that you take note of the company’s reputation and shop around for reviews and ideas before committing though. Sometimes the exchange policies may be more stringent than in store.

Magazine Subscriptions for cheap

The only time I indulge in the glossy womens and fashion magazines is when I’m browsing at a bookstore or when I’m at my hairdressers. I find them too expensive to purchase monthly otherwise, even with a subscription. This is especially when I particularly enjoy reading the international editions of magazines like Cosmopolitan and InStyle and Lucky. I love Allure and Lucky and they cost a bomb here.

I once thought to sign up for magazine subscriptions direct from the USA as it appeared to save me some money. However, at the time the exchange rate was not in my favour and I did not have a credit card then so it was out of the question.

However, I have now been invited by Magazine Agent to do a review on their site which has to do with magazines and I’m absolutely amazed at their low prices! Take shopping and fashion magazine Lucky for example. The subscription for 12 issues costs just $15 ($1.25 per issue) which is a huge 57% saving off the newsstand price.

I tried to see if they ship internationally at low prices, and saw that they have actually partnered with a site called magazinecity.com that ships internationally. So now, it is actually possible to subscribe to international editions or USA only magazines from outside the USA. Granted, you pay a higher price than you would in the USA but hey, its not that bad when you consider that its impossible to get your paws on Lucky otherwise.

Dare you get a tattoo?

I’m not quite sure if getting a Tattoo is a new trend but I’ve noticed a large number of people sporting tattoos on various parts of the body. The most popular spots for females I’ve noticed are either on the shoulder, ankle or maybe the bust area. I however am too afraid of pain to get an actual tattoo. So the best option for me would be an airbrush tattoo which is temporary, or maybe a swarovski crystal stick on which is easily applied and removed. Also, having a crystal stick on will be quite cute right? It might work better if I go clubbing or something, but since I don’t go out that much, I wonder where a crystal tattoo will take me. Lol
