Review: Makeup: Make Up For Ever Sculpting Blush

There isn’t much I dislike from Make Up For Ever. Their products are really top notch and they have a great range of colour selection and I’d happily place them way above MAC in terms of quality and service. Prices aren’t that far off from MAC either. The only difference is that MAC seems to be more of a cult brand probably due to excellent advertising and marketing.

Preaching aside, my review today is on Make Up For Ever’s Sculpting Blush. Make Up For Ever has 2 types of blushes. The normal powder blush which comes in a smaller pan the same size as their eyeshadows, and the sculpting blush which comes in a much larger pan.

I’m hardly ever tempted by cream or liquid blushes because previous experiences did not leave me with a good impression. However, the new Benefit PosieTinticon lip and cheek stain is suddenly calling out to me.

Don’t ask me why. I was not tempted by BeneTint although I know lots of people love it (I also know lots of people who hate it) and pink isn’t really a colour I like for the cheeks.

However, an online review I read described Posie Tint as Chanel Narcisse blush in a bottle, and I love Narcisse! Yes I know its a light pink that doesn’t work well on darker skintones but I love it on me. Does this mean I’ll like PosieTinticon too?

I won’t expect to see it here in Malaysia for a while - Erase Paste isn’t expected till June 2008 (I asked at the local counter about it and I got blank looks until the manager came along).  Dare I run the risk and order online for US$28? It’ll be cheaper… ;)

Let’s find some Nars Orgasm Dupes!

I haven’t had official word of NARS coming to Malaysia yet, so we are still waiting. The most popular blush colour form NARS has to be Orgasm. It is truly a cult classic. Many people I know love it but I also know of many who don’t like it because they find it too shimmery or too pink.

NARS Orgasm is in fact a shimmery pink-peach shade. I say pink-peach because I think it applies on me looking more pink than peach. The peach tones are just enough to temper it so it doesn’t look too pink going on. The shade is rather medium-light so if you have fair-medium skin, I’d say it’ll show up. However, if you are tanned or have darker skintone, all you might get is shimmer. That said, I have never noticed Orgasm going on highly shimmery. For me, its just nice so I suppose its to do with your own level of comfort.

If you are on a budget or have no access to NARS Orgasm, which brand or blush colour is a NARS Orgasm dupe or lookalike? Here are a few I have compiled from my own collection.

Review: Anna Sui Flat Top Blush Brush - Cheek Brush #2

For all my love of blushes, I think it would surprise many to know that I don’t own as many blush brushes as I do blushes. In fact, I used to own only 2 - MAC 129 from a travel set and The Body Shop blush brush. I’ll review them separately in due course.

However, I recently got my hands on the Anna Sui Cheek Brush #2. This is a round blush brush with a flat top. I was quite puzzled as to how to use it when I first got it but now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, I love it!

The Anna Sui flat top blush brush has rather short but dense bristles. Continue Reading >> Review: Anna Sui Flat Top Blush Brush - Cheek Brush #2
