Clarins HydraQuench Cream Mask to Quench your Skin’s thirst

Despite all the beauty articles we read, I know of quite a few women who still forsake using a daily moisturizer because they feel their skin don’t need it. Au contraire! In hot humid weather, our skin needs moisture more than ever because heat and sun are 2 of nature’s harshest environments.

Clarins has recognized this by introducing a few new products in the Clarins Hydraquench range for introducing and locking in moisture in the skin.

There is already a Hydraquench range but a couple more new products that are already out on the shelves will supplement things further. The key ingredient in the Hydraquench range is the Katafray bark from Madagascar – it was discovered to help raise moisture levels and is now cultivated and used exclusively in Clarins’ Hydraquench range of products.

One of my favourites is the Clarins Hydraquench Cream Mask for dehydrated skin (RM135/75ml).

Bluunis Facial Salon – My experience and it was not great

I was presented a free voucher to experience a Collagen facial worth RM380 at Bluunis Salon so who’s to pass it up? I go for regular facials and I’ve been to quite a few places but prefer to only stick to one regular one. I’d never seen Bluunis around before but when I found out it was formerly known as Ultimate Expression the jigsaw fell into place – wasn’t that some slimming centre? My spidey sense started tingling…

Bluunis Facial salon

Anyway, my facial was at Sunway Pyramid because the voucher came from there. I got there right on the dot of my appointment and was quickly ushered into a small room to fill up a form. “Ah this is where the hard-sell starts” I thought.

To my surprise, there was no hard sell. Yet.

No Skin consultation

To my utter surprise there was no skin consultation. No consultation as to whether my skin was dry or oily or what facial might be a better option. I know the voucher was for an Intensive Collagen Facial but it was my first time at the salon and there was no attempt to create a customer profile at all.

Bluunis Salon was very noisy

After being made to change into a pair of slippers, I was led into the inner section. The inner section of the salon is partitioned off into cubicles. Each cubicle fits a narrow bed and a locker for you to keep your bag. The problem was, the rooms are partitioned with plasterboard and the doors are sliding plywood. So you hear EVERYTHING that’s going on outside and next door.

I could hear some ladies talking at the top of their voices and the loud smacking sounds of a massage from next door. It was distracting.

The air conditioning too was not turned down so it was quite warm. To make things worse a thick duvet is placed over you so you slowly roast during the facial.

Lancome Beauty Institute at Bangsar Village II

I love going for facials – they are my one regular monthly luxury treat that I never fail to skip. Whilst facials are not always necessary, they are nice to go for especially when you have had a rough week.

Lancome Beauty Institute

I’d been going to the same salon for a couple of years now but recently tried the Lancome Beauty Institute at Bangsar Village II (ground floor next to Delicious cafe). The Lancome Beauty Institute conducts facials and body treatments using Lancome products so if you know Lancome products work for you, then you might consider going for their facials. However, if you know for a fact that the products do not work for you then you might want to skip it.

After a sip of hot Lancome Tea (yes, they have their own blend!) a short consultation involving cranking up machines and scary looking images of my skin I had a whitening facial. Now I’m not one for “whitening” so I prefer to refer to it as “brightening” instead. The products used were from the new Lancome Blanc Expert range.

kanebo-starhill

I previously wrote about my regular visits to the Kanebo International Salon for my facials and Tine (who also goes to Kanebo) asked me to review them so I shall.

I first visited the Kanebo International Salon in Bangsar a couple of years back, when I came across a promotion in the newspapers for their facials. Since then, they are my regular facial salon.

This is what I like about going to the Kanebo Salon:
