RMK 15th Anniversary Blush Palette: The one that might have gotten away

Alright ladies, you’re probably going to hate me for showing you a blush palette you may never see again for sale, but I actually received an email from Kay asking if I might have reviewed it. I don’t know if there’s a little black market where you can buy something as limited edition as this was, but I promised Kay I’d do a short review so she’d have an idea what the RMK 15th Anniversary Cheek Palette in 01 Pink Coral looks like on skin.

RMK celebrates their 15th Anniversary this year, 2012, and sometime in March-April 2012, they launched the limited edition 15th Anniversary Cheek Palette in 2 shades. The delicate fairy and the exquisite detail in the powder captured all our hearts and really, who could bring themselves to destroy this piece of art?!

Well, I did icon razz RMK 15th Anniversary Blush Palette: The one that might have gotten away So after oohing and aahing at how beautiful it looks, here’s how it looks after one takes a makeup brush to it. Och! It pains my heart it does!

Once you take a brush to it, you immediately lose the detail in the fairy’s head. What you get under that pretty brown bobbed hair and pert turned up nose is a white highlighter shade. You also lose the pearls she wears around her neck.

What is great (and the attention to detail that sets a brand like RMK apart from many other luxury makeup brands) is the attention to detail. The folks at RMK knew we’d all lament the loss of the pretty design. So they made sure we’d still have the outline of the fairy – which is printed on the plastic insert. Lay it over the powder and voila! Fairy is back in all her glory!

I couldn’t swatch each individual colour, because they did not show up well, and let’s be honest. This is best used with all the powder colours swirled together What you get then is a pretty, slightly shimmery, pinky coral shade that can be as light or as intense as you want it.

The powder itself is sheer but pigmented, so I will suggest a light hand and build it up from there. Depending on where you concentrate your brush, it can apply more pink or more orange but the sheer texture means that it does not overwhelm the skin.

Here’s an idea of how it looks on my skin. As you can see, the coral tones are quite strong so I prefer using a light fluffy brush so the colour does not go on with a splotch on cheeks.

I’m going to eschew the regular pros and cons because I honestly do not know where you can get this palette anymore. If you can find it, I’d say its a good buy if you are a collector of pretty palettes, or you like sheer coral pink blushes.

But this also teaches me a lesson to be less tardy so watch up for these other 15th Anniversary Eye and Lip palettes coming up soon. I hope I don’t miss the boat this time – give me a yell if I do icon razz RMK 15th Anniversary Blush Palette: The one that might have gotten away

Did you manage to get your hands on the RMK 15th Anniversary Cheek palette? Could you bring yourself to actually use it or are you still staring at it? icon smile RMK 15th Anniversary Blush Palette: The one that might have gotten away

That’s is an EXCELLENT deal CC! :D I wasn’t even aware they had it in a brush set (because RMK brushes are amazing stuff!) So, are you enjoying the blush then? :D

Oh, this is so cute!! I love the idea of overlaying the pattern/overspray with the plastic insert — I don’t think I’ve seen that in anything else before.

P.S. The little girl on the palette reminds me of you! Stylish, a little quirky, and (of course,) with a very chic bobbed haircut. ;o)

Rae, I love it that you think me quirky, because I quite certainly think I am LOL! :D I’m not very fairy dainty though ;) As for the preservation of the pattern with the insert, I think it genius on the part of RMK. Such attention to detail!

Expressing my honest compliments – You are as pretty and cute as the fairy on the palette, I swear! Such a pity that with a brush swirl, the little fairy is somewhat bald lol. As always, I love how the blush looked on you, there’s a magic in the way you apply it. I still haven’t venture much into blush for a starter, but your reviews are a good encouragement and now I know which blush to get when I am ready. Have a fabulous weekend Paris!

Aww thank you dearie :) ^_^v It takes about 2 swirls of the brush to behead the fairy, but yeah, its a pity to lose such a delicate pattern. I swear by blush to perk up the complexion. I suggest you start with a light sheer colour that you can build up easily, and a soft brush so mistakes are easy to diffuse. Then, experiment! :D I cut my makeup teeth on blush and lipstick so you could say I’ve had years to get it right ;)

Hmm.. Just curious..
Can you please show us how you put blush?
Cause I’m more familiar applying the blush with an angled blush brush and your brush looks different..
I wonder how you put blush with those.. :)

Hi Jen, guess what? I’ve never got the hang of an angled blush brush! LOL Ok I’ll try to show how I apply blush soon. I swear its not very exciting ;)

Hi Pearl, thanks for the compliment :D I think part of it is attributed to lighting, maybe? I’m doing a hydrating skincare regime now. I swear, anything can be “cured” so long as your skin is kept hydrated! :)

Fairy!!!! Oh I can never bring myself to use it! Or I’ll most likely do what I do with most of my purchases (eg. colour pencils), one to keep and one to use. Am I the weirdo here or do most girls do that with their pretty things?

Haha I know of people who do that too! Buy one to keep and collect, another to use. I don’t though, but what a great idea for a discussion topic! ;)

This is so pretty! It’s way too cute, I don’t think I could use it. I guess I would be one of those who would just stare at it… hehe. So, maybe it’s a good think I didn’t get my hands on one. Yet… ;)

Hi Paris, when I saw this at RMK counter I fell in love with it but I didn’t buy it. There were too many products that I wanted back then. Too bad this is not in the market anymore but probably some sites are still selling it ;)
