Coach Originals – Because great designs never go out of style… and I agree!

May 22, 2011 Paris B 29 Comments

Snob or not, I’ve stopped looking at Coach bags. The whole “limited edition” thing got to me and when they launched the Poppy bags, I said that’s it! There have been one or two designs that caught my eye (the Coach Kristin collection) but I mostly only ever gave the brand a cursory glance.

Until now.

coach originals

I saw these online at coach.com – the Coach Originals collection. The tagline is awesome – “Trends come and go. But great designs never go out of style”.

I’m glad you realized that Coach, because I’m in love with the designs!

Pictured in the collage are the Coach Court Bag in the foreground, Rambler’s Legacy on the right, and City Bag at the top.

I love the neutral browns, tans and blacks used; and the classic, streamlined, structured look of the bags with the dainty little turnlock closure. I love the look of the smooth texture leather. I have a Coach bag from the Legacy collection, which is quite old, and its got lovely thick buttery soft smooth leather. Feels much more luxurious than the new leathers which I find thin (and that shiny look gets my goat).

I also love that they can be slung cross body and in the case of the Court bag, has a top handle to hand carry! They might even be convertible, I can’t quite tell from the pictures.

Price wise, I think they are reasonable. The ones I liked and showed here are between US$258-278. Nothing bank breaking, and if the quality is as good as the original Coach bags of days gone by, that is a great value.

The only thing is, I’m not sure if the local Coach stores carry them, and if they will sell them at such awesome prices. I’d go up to RM1,100 max but anything more will make me re-think.

You don’t have to like these the way I do, but if you do too, yay! If you have seen these at local Coach stores, please do holler! I’d love to go and check them out myself 😀

YES! Me lurves these! They look very classy! Like you, I have one of the Legacy bags too, and yes, I love the soft leather. Can’t say much about the usual Coach monogrammed bags…

Beautiful bags right? I do wish we got them here, but I read they aren’t even available in most stores in the US, mostly sold online (although you can order from the online store and collect from the physical store) But since we aren’t there, its wishful thinking on my part 😛

My research tells me they aren’t available in store 🙁 Quite upset as I have a friend there now who could do the pick up if it was! 😛

I love the classic Coach designs, especially this one. Nice and leathery 🙂 Sophisticated w/o all the funny designs 🙂

I like the exterior design but not too keen on the interior. The vintage ones are quite readily available on ebay and I’ve tried bidding for some on Ebay but yet to win one 🙁

The interior is just one big main compartment with 1 hidden zip I think. Structured and unlined which I like 😛 Its not made to carry loads of stuff though unless you go the way of the Hobos. I saw loads on ebay but all these fakes out there turn me off and I can’t stand the doubt of whether it is real or not 🙁 If I buy on ebay I usually just go the Buy it Now route – saves a heck lot of hassle (but shipping is KILLER!!) 😛

I have the City bag (didn’t know it was called that) on the top left in navy blue. I love the bag as I can wear it cross body during weekends and as a shoulder bag during weekdays. the leather is in fact quite thick as compared to what you get in the current Coach bags. The bag was a gift from a relative in Singapore as she no longer use it. I believe she got it from the factory outlet in US.

Nice one! 🙂 Sounds like its a perfect little throw around bag. The current Coach bags don’t even feel like leather 😛

I like these too, and all their all-leather designs 🙂 Reminds me of the Proenza Schouler ones that the celebs are carrying. Of course, this is a fraction of the price! Hope you get your hands on one!

I saw quite a few people with Proenza Schouler in Singapore and after seeing it in person, I decided it wasn’t for me. Thank goodness! Would love to get my paws on one of these but it isn’t looking that way for now

NEVER BUY A COACH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks so dated and it’s not really nice!!! my perception of people that use Coach is that they are either auntie or just following trends blindly which is really stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the vintage Coach court bag and plaza bag (was manufactured in 1980s, no longer available. It is a larger size of the court bag. But not too big. Not much info out there, but I do hope if anyone also has this can share some of their thoughts).I think they are timeless items. The vintage coach bags really caught my eyes!!!!! I have never ever purchased vintage bags before. This is really great experience for me!
