Its taken me so long to desecrate the Tom Ford lipstick I was gifted with by a lovely lipstick loving friend. I mean this is a luxury lipstick. I have to give it its due 🙂
First, take a moment to stare at the TF initials etched into the top of the lipstick. We’ve seen brands etch their names on the side – Chanel and Revlon come to mind. Dior Rouge too! But Tom Ford, being unconventional, etches his initials right on top of the lipstick.
Next, savour the heft and the smooth lines of the white lacquered case. We always see lipsticks in gold or black cases right? Tom Ford isn’t conventional so his is a smooth white trimmed in gold. And its got good heft to it. A good luxury lipstick can be measured by its heft.
Also, there’s his name again – Tom Ford – etched right into the top of the lipstick cover.
I know what you’re thinking at this point. “Enough with the case already! Show us how the colour looks!” And I will… but you have to continue on below 😛
The Tom Ford Private Blend lip colour is part of the Tom Ford cosmetics line that we do not get here in Malaysia at this time. Its also very new in the USA and Europe. I played around with some colours at the counter in Selfridges. They are seriously creamy and pigmented and among the best lipsticks I’ve ever used.
My colour is Moroccan Rouge which is a deep plummy berry red. I chose it sight unseen and was quite surprised to see it in person. It was darker and deeper than I expected. I wasn’t quite sure how it’d look on me.
But as luck would have it, I absolutely love it 😀
The swatch above is done with just 1 swipe. Just 1 swipe to give that sort of opaque true to tube colour that is so hard to achieve. Actually it looks darker in the tube but it swatches a bit brighter and a touch fuchsia on my pinky lips.
The texture is creamy and it does not slip nor slide at all. It just stays put without drying out the lips and even after eating and drinking, if I don’t wipe it off, its there. There is no shimmer, just creamy glossiness that is so adult. None of that young kawaii girl look, thank you. Its a lipstick for a woman.
I wear this with a neutral eye in the day. Yes its not that bright a shade and it can pass muster for day. Its beautiful at night of course 🙂 There is a vanilla scent that is very nice too.
I love Tom Ford for coming out with these lipsticks that are far and away among the best I have tried from the luxury lipstick range. But I hate how I now want more colours 😛
Pros: Creamy colour, Long lasting, No bleeding or feathering on me, Pigmented colours, Gorgeous shades of red, Packaging is pure luxury
Cons: Unavailable in Malaysia at time of writing
If you have a friend in the UK or USA who can get you these, and want to give it a try, do note that the colours available are very strong and very skewed to the reds – browned red, plum red, bright red, its all there. None of those neutral, nude shades for Tom Ford. Oh no! Its all about rocking the glamorous red lip 😀
Do check out Tom Ford’s Cherry Lush as rocked by the Queen of red lipstick, Yani. I’m sorta glad we don’t get Tom Ford here yet… or I’d be broke 😛

The shade complements your skin so much! I love this!!!!
ParisB says
Thank you Nikki! 😀 I love it too!
Connie De Alwis says
Good different from your usual reds! Only a true lipstick lover will ever justify spending $42 on a lipstick but it is very gorgeous
ParisB says
Yup! To fork out money for this, you gotta be either a) a lipstick lover b) fan of Tom Ford or c) mad. I think I’d be c) hehe…
Hanny says
EEE!!! I want that lipstick! (I now admit that I have a lippie obsession), but I’ll just look at it. Its too stark for me to carry off, wuwuwu…
ParisB says
You know what? This is probably one of the more “wearable” shades! So yeah Tom Ford just isn’t doing things by halves. Of which I’m glad 😀
Natalie says
It is gorgeous! Now, how are you supposed to use the lipstick, without destroying that TF imprint? 😀
ParisB says
Hmm… very carefully 😉 If I were really anal about it, I’d probably use a lip brush and pick the colour off the sides. That way the top imprint remains pristine. However, I’m a philistine so I just swiped it on 😀
Natalie says
Hahaha… A good idea!
I just saw your comment on Karen’s blog re: the new Chanel lippy! :p
I am fighting really hard, not to get another lippy! It is just another pink lippy.. It is just another pink lippy…
ParisB says
*whispers* its a CHANEL pink lippy… and I don’t have one in that shade. *removes Devil horns*
Natalie says
*whispers back* and it is LE!
I am really tempted to get Coquette, but obviously it is not a popular shade or something – no one has done a review!
ParisB says
*emits small scream* No!! I can’t recall Coquette to be honest. But if you do get it please come and do me a guest post won’t ya? 😉
Natalie says
😀 Pixiwoo has it on her recent vid and it is stunning on her.. I do not know if it was the lip liner or lipstick that made her look so pretty though.
ParisB says
I’ll go and take a look, but if you do get it, my offer stands! 😉
AnT says
Gorgeous Paris! Wow~ It complements your flora blouse too 😀
ParisB says

Yumiko Lui says

mrsdjones says
Wowww. I am impressed with the packaging! I love the white boxy with GOLD trim. So elegant! Now I feel black is very boring :p I am not sure I can pull the red color lippie though. Thank god it is not here in Malaysia yet, if not….
ParisB says
Its certainly elegant isn’t it? I love how it feels too. Its heavy and smooth and everything luxurious 🙂
Sam says
What a gorgeous colour! Looks great on you. I haven’t seen these in Australia yet 🙁
ParisB says
Thank you Sam! I’m not sure when we in Asia and Australia will get this line 🙁 seems to be Europe and USA only for a while. Maybe its the price.
milktea says
Along with Tom Ford cosmetics, we don’t get Edward Bess or Le Beaute de Metier in Malaysia either 🙁
ParisB says
As they are all pretty new brands in the worldwide market (and pricier) i think we might see them come in in the future, just not so soon 🙂 we are a pretty small cosmetics market after all. I am interested in beaute de metier though but i get a heart attack at the price every time!
yani says
Ah Miss B, absolutely gorgeous!! Glad you’re in love with it as much as I am! 🙂
ParisB says
Yay! Its beautiful… And addictive!
gio says
I don’t really like the packaging that much to be honest, but the shade… wow! It’s so gorgeous and elegant, looks great on you!
ParisB says
Hehe the packaging certainly isn’t conventional 🙂 it doesn’t look like much in pictures but in person its lovely. The colours are certainly eye catching eh? 😉
Mari Ohira says
Ooh, loved it! The design is so classy and the colour is just amazing! Finally you found a berry-coloured lipstick to call your own, heh? But such luxury at US$ 42 a piece… still a bit too much for me!^^ Maybe I’ll buy it when I go mad as well. 😀
ParisB says
$42 is too much for anyone hehe… I’m glad I have a lipstick fairy godmother gift me with this 😀
Mari Ohira says
Too bad I don’t have a lipstick fairy godmother. But then again, I’m one myself! *Thinking about what kind of present would be suitable for a girl friend: Ooh, I know! A lipstick!*
ParisB says
HAHA! I’m a lipstick fairy godmother myself too 😀
Jyoan says
Tom Ford True Coral is insanely gorgeous.
