Guerlain Meteorites Perles Loose Pearls Illuminating Powder Teint Rose – Love the new packaging dahling!

I didn’t shop much while in Singapore. Well, “not much” being relative but while at Changi airport, to take my mind off certain other things I was eyeing, I splurged on the new Guerlain Meteorites Perles in Teint Rose .

All I needed to know at the counter was “Is this the new packaging?” and once the SA said yes, I was off like a shot to the counter. At S$71 its not cheap but it was a tiny bit cheaper than the retail price of RM185 in Malaysia.

I opened it yesterday and to my surprise (and delight) the new tub is metal! Not metal covered cardboard (as they did before) but a nice light thin embossed metal case. None of that baroque looking gold edged cardboard thankyewverymuch! This is a sleek embossed brushed metal tin with plastic tub insert.

The cover is now literally like that of a flat tin cover instead of the high cardboard cap. I don’t know why but I have visions of Milo every time I open the cover icon razz Guerlain Meteorites Perles Loose Pearls Illuminating Powder Teint Rose Love the new packaging dahling!

Teint Rose is pretty much Mythic renamed. It all looks the same – little balls of lilac, gold, rose and blue tones to be swirled together to give you that luminous glow. The same luminous glow that Mythic gives me.

Except in prettier sleeker more modern packaging.

Love!

I somehow thought that the Teint Rose pearls looked a little lighter compared to my old Mythic Meteorites. Placed side by side, I got the same feeling too. The colour of the Mythic balls seemed a little deeper than Rose Teint.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles: Mythic vs Teint Rose

But when I placed the balls side by side, there is no discernible difference. My guess is that the Mythic Meteorites I own are already quite old so perhaps the sheen that covers the balls are now lost. Or perhaps there is a difference in the formula which makes it look that way. After all, the new Meteorites are supposed to have an improved formula.

On the skin, there is no difference. Or perhaps there is. Teint Rose seems to diffuse the light better so faking flawless glowy skin is even easier than before!

If you already have the previous Meteorites perles, you don’t have to get this one in the same colours – for me, Mythic and Teint Rose are one and the same. But if you don’t already own Meteorites and want to cut your teeth on these little magical powder balls, I think you’ll love the new packaging too! icon biggrin Guerlain Meteorites Perles Loose Pearls Illuminating Powder Teint Rose Love the new packaging dahling!

So bright, so beayootiful, my preciousssss…

Hahaha!! I’m loving the new improved packaging!! I’m glad to read that the quality is still the same (if not better)! More often than not cosmetic companies take this chance to either reduce the quantity or change the formulation thats more cost effective (read: make the product crap).

I must resist getting this… at least for now!! I’m dead broke!! >.<

They are permanent so no hurry Jenn! :D

Yes they are according to a reader who bought hers already. Head down to your nearest Guerlain counter and see :)

The new packaging certainly is tempting! But I’ll take forever to finish up even the tiny travel sized meteorites I got, so lemmings begone! :P

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 9:33 am

Yup! They never ever seem to finish! But that makes it a most worthwhile buy :D

But , somehow i felt the old packaging looks more classiz and elegent. still prefer the old packaging.

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 9:54 am

Ah you can still get that online so no worries! :) I never quite liked the old packaging mostly because it was cardboard and we all know how horrid cardboard can be after a while. :)

Lee June 9, 2010 at 9:46 am

Bonjour Paris.
You finally bought it, well done :D *gonging and drumming*
I love the packaging but I already have one LE (the one with purple butterfly)…plus, this is not my HG loose powder…I’ll give it a pass until it comes out with something better, or LE…
Btw, just a random request…since this website is called “mywomenstuff”…would you be reviewing your Dior bag anytime soon? :D I am curious!

Bonjour Lee! Just started using the bag – will try to share soon but I believe the one I have is no longer available in stores. Its from a past collection and since it was marked down so much when I got it, I think its probably quite quite old!

Hi, I had one long time ago almost like 6yrs. But i never seem to be able to finish it. What about yours? Any chance of finishing the old box? I just wondering whether i should invest in the new one when i can never finish the old one :)

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 10:00 am

Nope, no chances of finishing the old box. I might crush up some of the old balls because I like it used as a loose powder :)

OOOOO…. So pretty! Oh yeah, am I right in understanding that these little balls of heaven for you are similar to MAC’s MSFs in the way that they’re a little shimmery, can be used as highlighter and all over the face as well??

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 10:15 am

In a manner of speaking, yes except they aren’t very shimmery so I wouldn’t call it a highlighter per se – for me, they illuminate the skin and diffuse the light so its easy to fake flawless skin. MSF tend to be too shimmery for this purpose and to be used all over (for me that is) because if its too shimmery you risk the disco ball look or just looking oily.

ahh the new packaging is pretty! have been lemming for it ..but now i seriously think i should get one. the old packaging is selling for $49.50 on strawberry net…hmm new or old?

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Performance wise, new or old is more or less the same. So it comes down to packaging and whether you can get really good discounts at strawberrynet! ;)

jojoba (My Makeup Reviews) June 9, 2010 at 12:01 pm

looks really lush. hey, could you please do a post of how they work for you as i couldn’t get these balls to work for me. thanks

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 12:18 pm

I’ve posted about how I use it and what to expect in a previous post. Basically, I just use a fluffy brush, swipe over the balls or the whole pan (if its the pressed version) and dust all over my face. To me, you can’t really see any outstanding difference (some might say there is no difference) but it does make a diff to how my skin looks because it looks flawless and glowy in person and just looks better overall. I’ve also used it in most of my FOTD :)

Ohh Paris!!

Yes! I always just stare at the Meteorites Voyage pressed powder. Sorry la that one is waaaay beyond budget! But this will do :D

Synaesthesia June 9, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Yes, Meteorites is a must have makeup item for me! I’m been using it for the past 4 years and still loving it to bits ! Is kinda hard for me to get it at my local department stores as Guerlain has closed down their counters here few years ago. So sad…

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 2:09 pm

Aww… at least you have one! It would appear that Guerlain is now solely found in KL at very selected stores.

i so wish if they can remain the old datin design but in metal form. improved the cardbord material instead….

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 2:48 pm

That might have been nice too. Proper gold metal edges embossed with the colorful swirls of colour. But I think gold tends to discolour after a while – that might be the reason they didn’t use gold. Or perhaps its just to fit in with the new image of Guerlain – their new palettes are all using this deep grey metal

This is fab! I love the new packaging. I always thought the cardboard boxes were too flimsy for something so expensive. Finally the packaging is up to par! I don’t own a meteorites….maybe it’s time huh???

How to use this?

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 5:58 pm

I’ve shared in my reply to jojoba. Just quickly I just use a fluffy brush and brush it all over my face. Nothing obvious as the effects are subtle

jojoba (My Makeup Reviews) June 9, 2010 at 5:12 pm

hey, thanks for the quick reply. i guess i overlooked what you used in those pictures. hmm, i guess i want something more severe. lol. i won’t be trying more balls then. i recently tried a guerlain item and regretted again. some brands aren’t just friends. but you know what? i amy dying to see the new palettes in person. have you read about those? i saw the pictures and i was like, OMG!!! i want those!

Reply

ParisB June 9, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Ya I saw the pics and they are gorgeous! I can’t wait to see them in real life. The price is very high here though.

Natalie June 9, 2010 at 11:55 pm

This looks great! Would you prefer this or pressed version of it?

Reply

ParisB June 10, 2010 at 12:18 am

I can’t afford the Meteorites Voyage but I do like the Pressed Illuminating powder which isn’t quite the same thing but is more affordable. The effect of the pressed illuminating powder is a little different though.

Natalie June 10, 2010 at 8:32 pm

Thank you! I was reading up the reviews and some people were saying the Pressed Illuminating powder works ‘better’ than the balls, so I am just not sure which one to get! BTW, subscribed to your blog and love reading it everyday!! :)

Reply

ParisB June 10, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Thank you Natalie! :) the pressed powder that I’ve heard works better is the one that’s multicoloured hexagon shapes. If its the one with a bumpy surface then I personally feel the balls work better ;)

i have been lemming for this for a while.. and have told myself not to get it since it’s not a must-have item and the benefits are not obvious. and now i see this post! oh nooo…! it reignited my fire for these perles again!

my hubby will surely think i’m crazy to spend so much money on these small little balls.

Reply

ParisB June 10, 2010 at 8:42 am

Tell hubby it’ll last you forever and that you’ll use it everyday. Once you do the effects without are obvious enough that you’ll consider this a must have! ;)

jojoba (My Makeup Reviews) June 11, 2010 at 4:00 am

hey, do you have an e-mail address? i looked high and low and could not find one. OK, you know how technology and i don’t work.. don’t laugh…

i didn’t know Guerlain is ex in Malaysia. In comparsion, i thought it was a lot cheaper. NO? i could be wrong as it’s a brand I don’t look into.

Reply

ParisB June 11, 2010 at 9:32 am

yup! Its in the brown box on the right or in the “About” page :) But you can get me at parisb(at)mywomenstuff(dot)com.

Guerlain is rather expensive here but I expect it, being a luxury brand. I don’t know how it compares elsewhere in the world. The eye palette will retail for RM200+
