Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub – Goodbye Scaly Skin!

April 21, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

Some products just impress me so much I have to get them right there and then. The Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub is one of them. I tried it at their counter in Parkson Pavilion and in 5 minutes I was at the counter handing over cash for the tub. It was like I was under a spell. And I was, in the nicest possible way of course 🙂

Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub

Here’s what sold me. The fact is that this salt scrub need not be washed off. You can apply a thin layer of the salt scrub on your skin, lightly rub it until it melts and falls off (preferably in the shower) and then leave the oils to absorb into your skin which benefits it better than washing it off.

The feeling on my skin is nothing short of A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! When tried at the counter, the back of my hand felt so soft and smooth I had to see if it would make my arms and legs feel that way too. I’d realized that working in an air conditioned office and sleeping in an air conditioned room and being plain lazy about applying body lotion wasn’t doing the skin on my arms and legs any favours. Hello scaly skin!

I’m happy to report that it works just as well on the rest of the body as it did on the back of my hand. Here’s how I use it.

Les Floralies Earths Organics manuka oil scrub

  • Have a shower.
  • After your shower, use a spatula or clean ice cream stick stir and mix the oil into the salt scrub and apply a thin layer of the salt scrub on arms and legs. Once mixed the 1st time, you don’t have to mix it again.
  • Rub in circular motions until the salt falls off or melts. On damp skin its the latter.
  • You can either shower again at this point or just rinse off with water and get out of the shower with baby smooth and soft skin as I do.

The oils absorb quickly into my skin and does not leave me with an oily sticky feel on my skin or on my bathroom floor as it wont to happen with usual salt scrubs. I really like this! 😀 I was told there is also manuka oil in this, but I didn’t see Manuka oil on the ingredient list so I can’t be sure. The oil listed is sweet almond and avocado oil. The list also lists  Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin C) and as far as I know Tocopheryl Acetate is a Vitamin E derivative 😛

What about smell you ask? It smells of lemongrass (serai) and ginger. It smells like something I might want to put into a pot of tom yum soup. Its delicious. I don’t know if its the ginger or the scrubbing motion, but my arms and legs always feel warm after using this scrub. A nice kind of circulatory warmth. Great after an evening of yoga stretching as I had last night 🙂

Anyway, you might not like the price. A 200ml tub of Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub retails at RM185 but since I can use it quite sparingly, I can make it last quite a while. Its perfect for a bit of luxury at the end of a long day and it helps me say “Goodbye scaly skin!” 😀

Pros: The oil absorbs quickly and makes my skin soft and smooth, It is not oily or sticky, I don’t have to rinse this scrub off

Cons: Pricey, I’d prefer a flip top glass container for easier access in the shower and it would be good if it came with a spatula

So what is Les Floralies?

Les Floralies is a natural bath and body range of products from New Zealand found in the more luxury priced end of the price spectrum. Their products are made with natural ingredients sourced from New Zealand and there are a few ranges available in the brand e.g Great Barrier Island, Earths Organics, Matakana Valley. I took a healthy sniff at the products at the counter and what I liked was that the fragrance was not overwhelming in any of the products. What you get is a hint of scent which is nicer than “Bam! In your face!” scent.

I liked the smell of the Earths Organics Gardeners range which has a fresh lemongrass scent and the range with the cucumber mint scent that is light and fresh. Most of the products contain manuka oil which is supposed to be very good for the skin and has anti bacterial properties.

I also liked the smell of the Earths Organics lavender range. I am a sucker for lavender 😀 I tested some of the Matakana Valley Macadamia Nut and Fig body cream which has a nice smell and texture (I don’t quite like shea butter) but I might check out something else in the range because as I’ve said, I’m too lazy to apply body lotions and creams.

Prices are a little on the high side (it IS a luxury bath and body range after all!) and ranges from RM49-RM185 (trust me to pick up the most expensive product!). Price wise, its not quite for everyone but if you want to check out something a little different from the norm and if you’d like to try something natural, take a look at Les Floralies. Its different and I think I’ve found a new (and expensive) addiction 😛

Have you tried anything by Les Floralies? I’ve got their Sniff Boxes too which is a very intriguing product. I’ll tell you about it another time – hopefully soon 😉

Paris B

The Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub retails at RM185/200g. Les Floralies counters are presently at Parkson Pavilion and Parkson Gurney Plaza and are coming soon to a PJ mall in May/June 2010. They are also on Facebook.

Wah! The price! Oh my heart! 😛

But the way you rave about it, it sounds fab… now if only my heart could get over the shock of the price.

I don’t know if its just me, but I find that while my skin feels alright, even a tad oily with other scrubs on and super taut the moment I step out of the shower. Which is one of the reasons why I seldom scrub. Any thoughts? 🙂

Its fab certainly! My skin is still feeling soft this morning mmm 🙂 I don’t get that taut feeling but usually when I do use body scrubs I always make sure I moisturize after that. Just like your face scrubbing exfoliates the skin so it can feel tighter. This one doesn’t give me problems because I don’t wash off the oils after that. I just rinse off with water and towel off.

oh dear you made it sound so so good! but the price! ouch! It kinda reminds me of the lalicious body scrub, which the oil can be absorbed into skin…gosh!

Haha I’ve used it about 3 times so far. Hardly a dent. Then again, I only use a little bit on arms and legs only.

it’s a good thing! I meant I was going to open all the testers to sniff the product. I can’t stand strong smelling stores.

    It’s in KL! sweet 🙂
I picked up the earths organics cucumber and mint hand and body lotion from Sephora Sg a few months back and I love it to bits. I’m notoriously fickle when it comes to scents (short attention span) but I’ve been using it day in day out for the past 5 months without getting sick of it.
Moisturizes well, leaves just enough scent to make me happy but not too much to overpower you (perfect tropical weather scent, if you ask me), and I figure 400 ml (? not sure) for S$29, it’s not too budget busting.
Any idea what the pricing is like for this one here? I just replenished my stocks though 🙁

Yay! Someone who has heard of this 😀 I’m not sure how much the hand lotion is here. I tried this too. Its good as you said. Nothing overpowering, and non oily or sticky. I can see why you like it.

Wow…the fact about not having to wash off the scrub is soooooo tempting!! The main reason I get lazy to do body scrub is because of the long time it requires (similar with wash off facial mask). And now this sounds like sheet mask for face. So convenient! Hmmm……

Thanks for sharing anyway. I wouldn’t have heard about this brand if I don’t read this today. =)

Hope you will like it 🙂 I didn’t think of it as a sheet mask for the body but that’s a nice thought 😀

I think I spotted this in Sephora ION if I remember correctly. I gave it a miss the last time as I wasn’t too pleased with the ingredient list. Will confirm it again when I next head there. Might grab this if the price is reasonable.

Yup! I’ve tried the Sniff boxes. Just quickly, don’t expect a miracle but they are fun and they “work” depending on what you want them to “work” for 😉

I first tried the cucumber and mint lotion and their shampoo and conditioner at Scenic Circle Hotel, Dunedin, New Zealand, while on holiday there last year. Normally I’m not one for trying out new shampoos or lotions, especially those kept in hotels, but the smell of these products was simply irresistible. My hair, normally rough and unmanageable, became all soft and silky. When checking out, I asked the housekeeping staff to give me a few more vials and kept using them even after my return to India. When in Dubai this year, I tried in vain to get these lovely products. Can someone please tell me how to get the Earth’s Organics range in India?
