PB Needs Your Help to Rec a MAC!

When I told you about the MAC Colour Forecast collection Jenn wondered if I might be turning into a fan of MAC Cosmetics – sorry babe not yet :)

However, I must confess to a certain morbid curiosity. Its been a long long time since I stepped into MAC Cosmetics. The last time I did, I picked up the Porcelain Pink MSF which I still like and use (I actually tote it around but I don’t tote the Dior Rose Diamond shimmer).

I’m thinking of venturing in a MAC store again. But I feel like Alice stepping into Wonderland. I’m not sure what I’ll find. (Incidentally, I’ve watched Alice in Wonderland – the one by Tim Burton and incidentally, under Disney too! If you are going to watch it, tell me if you don’t notice that everyone in the movie looks like they have not slept in years – in Alice’s case about 13 years. They need concealer baby! Oh and the eye makeup for the Mad Hatter played by Johnny Depp is sublime! Just don’t go emulating the Red Queen with her 80′s style blue eyeshadow yes? ;) )

So I’ll need your guide. Tell me 1 item I should look out for in MAC Cosmetics. I know there are a ton. Just tell me your one fave :)

All ears!

Paris B

hehe I thought about it but the rest of the colours didn’t appeal

Awwww Paris, come to the dark side already!! hahaha!! jk! :D

My absolutely favourite MAC item is the 187 brush!! Can’t live without it. I totally adore the Cleanse off oil too!! It removes everything effortlessly, and the scent is lovely!! hehe!! :D

Strangely enough, though i’m a mac addict through and through, their MSFs don’t really get to me as much as i thought they would, ditto their mineralize blushes! But i’m game for everything else! It’s almost impossible for me to leave the store empty handed!! Haha!! :P

haha not yet Jenn, not yet :P Is the 187 the skunk brush? I do like their brushes incidentally.

Reply

Jenn March 11, 2010 at 4:55 pm

Yup that’s the skunk brush!! :D

You MUST check out the 138 brush too! It’s tapered at the top and oh so soft!! Perfect for sculpting those cheekbones for pancake faces like me! Hehehe!! :D

I’ve got a pancake face too! Will take a look thanks! :D

Hmm, the 187/188 brushes isn’t too far off from their dupes, so it’s more cost effective to buy the dupes (e.g. from Etude House) actually! :)

MSF or blush! I never leave a MAC without them LOL!

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 4:25 pm

But Connie says I have too many blushes already! :P

a girl can never have too much blush, no? at least for me it’s a neverending quest for the prettiest blush!

Reply

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 6:28 pm

you’re telling me! Blush is my vice LOL

i love their lipstick! i have sensitive lips…mac lipstick perfect for me! and they have wide range of colors and texture…… try their lipstick!

Reply

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Interestingly I know for a fact their lipsticks don’t work for me. I’ve tried them all and actually tossed them out because they were just too dry :(

Hanny March 11, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Hmmm… Their brushes are great. The pencil brush works wonders, and mine came from the holiday collection last year, hehehehehe. I forgot the number, though…

Reply

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 4:26 pm

Haven’t tried this one. Will go look.

Reply

Connie March 11, 2010 at 3:02 pm

hmmm… something that I really like and I think you’d use: Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. Buildable coverage, doesn’t look cakey or feel dry…
Blush you got more than enough already :p
Fluidline I don’t you’re too into that
Cleanse-Off oil is great but Kose Softymo does the work too

Is that a finishing powder? Blur as a sotong as you can tell :P

im dying to try MAC 138: tapered face brush
;)

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 4:27 pm

Haven’t tried this one either LOL!

Oh c’mon Paris, fess up already! LOL… =P

For me, I love a few things from them. Sorry, can’t stick to the one-item rule because I feel like you REALLY need to hear what’s good. Hehe..

1. BLUSH – because you can never have too many MAC blushers. For you I’d recommend Pinch ‘O Peach because I think it’d still give you a lovely flush of colour as you’re so fair. Or for something cooler, Well Dressed perhaps?

2. Lipsticks – MAC is famous for their lipsticks, but I only really love those with Lustre finish.

3. Cleansing Oil – the one in the blue bottle. Like it a lot, but somewhat optional. As Connie said, there are cheaper alternatives.

Happy Shopping! =D

You know what? I think I had Pinch o Peach once. Or was it something else? >.< I gave that one away. I'll go look again and see what else catches my eye. Even Lustre lipsticks were too dry for me. So I'm really at a loss :P

I agree with Jenn. I like 187 brush too! Not those limited edition ones please. :)

Other than that, if you like powder foundation, do try out their Mineralized loose mineral foundation! I’m on my second bottle already.

I’m not an eyeshadow fan of theirs (other than their previous pigment collection) but their blushes is worth to invest in 1 or 2 if you love blushers. :P

Reply

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 4:29 pm

I will take a look at the foundation – thanks! Perhaps get colour matched finally LOL… As for blushes I actually think I have too many but heck there’s always room for one more ;)

Paris, im not a big fan of MAC myself but there are certain items from them that are worth looking at. :P

1) MAC Blot powder – very good setting powder and keeps my face shine free for hours.

2) MAC well dressed blush

3) MAC foolish me blush

4) MAC Siss lipstick

Good luck!

if finance permits and i am to share something from MAC with my friends, I’ll buy them MAC fluidlines. Texture is deliciously creamy and colours vibrant. They also stay like on like a leech yet easily removable with cleansing oil. One of my HGs. My little glass pot of love, muaks.

Reply

ParisB March 11, 2010 at 6:29 pm

Ah I used to own fluidliners. Way back when they were first launched. Anyone remember Sweet Sage? I hardly used it enough and it developed a smell after a while. I hope the new ones are better!

80% of my cosmetics are MAC :D I love the Cremesheen Glass. They’re not sticky like the usual MAC lipglosses. The blushes, including the mineralize ones – they’re awesome. And yes, the 187 brush! I use mine everyday, wash it after every use for the 2nd year now and it is still in great shape.

ParisB March 12, 2010 at 10:21 am

I saw the mineralize blushes – a bit shimmery eh? Pretty though :)

I’m not a huge MAC fan, but I love their brushes, esp the 219 pencil brush. It has dense but soft bristles and is works so well at applying color in the crease, on the lower lashline and at defining shapes.

ParisB March 12, 2010 at 10:21 am

Ah I will check this one out some time :)

I’m a relatively new MAC fan, but what started it for me was their holiday brush collection. I love their 187 brush, it applies liquid foundation like a charm. So I’ll hafta vouch for that as well!

Hey, try their Prep & Prime loose powder. BEST. LOOSE. POWDER. on the market and I’ve tried a few of them. My face was usually oily after an hour or so, but with this on, I only need a blotting paper after, say, 3 or 4 hours! Plus, with it on, my friends commented that my face didn’t look as cakey as before(when I was using the crappy Chanel Mat Lumiere powder) and that it glows a very beautiful glow! Try it!

Reply

ParisB March 12, 2010 at 10:25 am

Sounds good! Problem is, I don’t have oily skin LOL… but thats a good rec :)

Reply

Yvonne March 13, 2010 at 2:48 am

Oh well, but you can still get it for that ‘natural glow’ factor. :)

Try the M.A.C.’s Studio Fix Fluid foundation. From your posts, I’ve gathered that you’re probably around my skin tone so perhaps try NC15 or NW15? ;) It has great coverage that can be sheered down, it has a nice consistency and lasts forever!

ParisB March 12, 2010 at 10:26 am

Hmm… I’ve heard a lot about this one. I might give it a shot some day. The SA color matched me to NC25 (without testing foundation) but I’m thinking thats a tad too dark for me.

I like the Lipgelee. Feels very gentle on the lips. I keep wearing it to sleep, cos I just feel like putting it on for fun. Then once I put on, it looks so nice, I don’t remove it. So wasteful and bad habit. :P PP

The blush is good too. But I feel that the brushes are so-so. Lipsticks not very good. The glitter eyeshadow falls as well. =(( I am neutral about MSF.

Paris, I’m in the same predicament! Planning to head into the MV store this weekend! Right now, I can’t decide between a blush, a Dazzleglass Creme (red, red, red!), or my cake batter perfume! :) Good luck with your search!

Ended up with a MSF Natural powder. Realized when I stepped into the store that no colour cosmetics grabbed me :( Let me know what you got!
