Easy! Sandwiches for lunch for a week! And i’m not talking about just your regular PB&J. I’m talking about a packed sandwich! My sandwich has, 2 servings of ham, 1 slice of cheese, slices of tomatoes and cucumbers. Yum! Dessert is a fruit salad that I whip up myself. Heaps of work but within 1 week, I can return to my regular pre-Christmas size 😛 I still have my after dinner chocolates every night, by the way 😛 Dark chocolate only. 80% cocoa :)

I’ve to admit that I do brisk walks every morning to the station and also I try to run for 15 minutes during lunch.

ooo… I need to try a good mask pronto!
How to lose weight? Here’s a list I follow:
1) Cut down on rice (it’ll be hard)
2) Don’t eat between meals (take fruits/vege if u cannot tahan!)
3) Drink ONLY PLAIN WATER (at least 8 glasses a day)
4) Try not to eat anything after 7pm
5) Eat more vege and fruits! (I love apples and persimmons)
6) If u like cheese, eat swiss cheese as it promotes the secretion of some hormone or enzyme (can’t remember) to decrease the storage of fat in your body!

AND of course 7) EXERCISE! Move about at least 30 minutes a day…

haha… #7 is hard for me cuz I hate getting sweaty so what I do is after I wake up and before I go to sleep, do some light pilates and stretching =)
But if you’re those exercise bunnies, go hit the gym or take a walk around yr neighbourhood~

Let’s lose weight together!! All the best~

iqa_zarfan February 24, 2010 at 1:48 pm

I’ve been on diet for 3 months.
Something I’ve never done my entire life.
The best way is low carbo intake.
U can eat carbo, just reduce the amount & if possible no carbo for dinner.

And if u happen to have eaten a lot, make sure immediately go for diet the next day. Don’t wait! The longer u wait, it’ll much difficult to lose those kilos.

So far, I maintain my weight with this kind of diet routine.

My tip? Stress! Hahahaha… 😛 Seriously, I lose most of my weight when I’m stressed.

But for a fun way of losing weight and toning up, try bellydancing! If you do it right, you’ll really feel the burn in your abs, hips and thighs. 😀

Er…loose weight?

1) exercise, exercise , exercise! my favourite is spinning class, good for the knee too….as my family has history of knee arthritis.

2) Cut down on rice esp at night, just eat vege…

3) Replace meal with fruits and vege….green apple and oat drink for bfast gives you flat stomach…..

4) Eat less meat, fried food, junk food and sugary drink…

5) Stay happy…keep the energy up and hv a positive mind….keep life going…..

lemon 😉

Get enough sleep. And if possible, sleep early. People who don’t get enough sleep gains weight faster than those who do get enough sleep.

I have been going through the losing weight phase for some time and I have tried a lot of ways to lose weight from cutting down my food intake to not eating rice.

However, the best way to lose weight is always eat more meals with small portions. When you eat regularly, your metabolism rate will not slow down and this helps in fat burning. Plus, you will not feel hungry with constant eating of small portion of meals which will help to not to overeat at main meal times(eg: dinner).

Coupling with exercise, this is the best way to lose weight. People ask me a lot on how I maintain my slim figure :)

Kalpana February 24, 2010 at 3:21 pm

My face would love a miracle mask!

Well when I was studying in UKM, I followed a rather simple diet & exercise that guaranteed weight loss in a month!
1) Eat rice only ONCE a day (preferably in the afternoon). Only 1 scoop and make sure you pat the spoon against the side on the rice cooker so you only get one smooth scoop of rice.
2) I substituted my love for fried chicken with Fish. Steamed is the best.
3) I made sure I had my dinner (which usually comprises of noodles) before 7pm.
4) Stay away from soft drinks COMPLETELY. Drink lots of water and fruit juice.
5) In between meal times when your tummy growls, it doesn’t mean you are hungry, it just needs hydration so drink water instead of reaching for a snack.
6) Sleep at the same time every night. It’s healthy to get an average of 7-8hours of sleep a night.
7) Last but not least, since my hostel was on a hill and I didn’t have a car, I walked up and down the stairs from my hostel leading to my classes on a DAILY basis, average twice a day. (the stairs had 200 over steps, I kid you not)
8) It’s proven and it works, when you are happy you lose weight because you do not overeat to compensate. =) So stay happy!

At the end of one month, I had lost up to 2.5kgs! =) I kept this up for one year and had killer legs that looked longer and leaner and an ideal weight of 50kgs! *bliss*

Hanz February 24, 2010 at 3:27 pm

My way of keeping fit & achieving slimmer legs for 2010 :
1) Execise daily (try to or the least 4 times a week) for 1hour that includes Strider Machine + Lunges + Squat.
2) My ever-trusted portable Sauna! 3 times a week at most.
3) Lighter meals at night
4) Don’t skip breakfast, you will eat more for lunch and it is not healthy. I always share lunch with my boy so the slower of the eating rate, it makes me feels full faster.
5 Would you believe me that my ongoing breastfeeding my little tot also helps me reduce my weight? It is true!

That’s all, oh..i never consume any diet drink, pills or supplement in my life but those methods that I keep on doing keeps my weight in check. Plus, I still binge on chocolate and coffee lover. :>

Eat smaller meals. Don’t stuff yourself with too much fibre as this can actually make you feel bloated which messes with your mind – making you think you’ve put on weight so you try to restrict your eating further which may screw up your metabolism in the end. Its a vicious cycle. Eat in moderation is the key!

Amanda February 24, 2010 at 4:16 pm

stick to three average size meals a day! and no snacking in between. seriously, it works.

Suzanne February 24, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Weight Loss? = Positive thinking = better health

Like many girls out there. I am not gifted with a heavenly body. I have struggled with diet fads – only to binge on more food later. Joined a gym with thinking of losing weight, but failed to keep up. So i’ve come to terms & learn to love yourself first. With that kind of positive thinking ,everything will fall into place. Soon after i was eating more healthily ,no more binging -because one simple fact – i am happy. Stopped smoking. Started to go for walks with the idea of enjoying nature’s breeze. At the end of it all , i achieved what i was looking. Positive thinking :) And oh yes, the miracle mask will be a fantastic add on benefit to my daily happy routine in life :)

Esther February 24, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Ahh… By erm….exercising in a form of something you love? I go for Taekwondo lessons and they’re fun!

Exercise + self defense = win win! =P

it’s like killing two roaches with one book O.o

February 24, 2010 at 5:58 pm

Keep a food diary, and make sure you show it to someone who you respect and eats healthily.

Most of us either overeat or snack nonstop. By making sure you write EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth (excluding lipstick or lipgloss of course, unless you can think of a way to measure it! :D) and the amount that you eat, you’ll be more aware of what and how much you eat. Also, by recording the times as well, you’ll know when in the day does your hunger pangs usually hit, and so you can make sure you have a healthy snack ready (Celery’s a negative calory food btw, where you use more energy eating it than it offers).

Showing it to someone else will expose you to self-shame/guilt and you’ll be EVEN more aware of what and how much you eat.

To lose weight, consume a bowl of oats first thing in the morning everyday!
It is difficult in the beginning as oats ain’t that tasty but once you get used to it, you’ll definitely notice the difference! 😀

saitoyf February 24, 2010 at 7:02 pm

I still remember after I gave birth to my 4th child, I lose weight by eating fish soup & yong tou fu soup for lunch for 1 mth.As for dinner, I cannot escape confinement food, so I limit myself 1 week once to eat rice, per time is only half bowl. Before I lose weight, my weight is 66kg, after trying this way, within a mth, weight drop to 55kg, now already 46kg.There is no point to skip food or taking pills. So now my way of losing weight is to follow what I had tried & swims every week. This has become my routine :)

baybeeDESIGN February 24, 2010 at 9:02 pm

Drink plenty of water!
People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. Sometimes after dinner I still feel hungry but all I needed was to drink a glass of water to feel full.
And if you don’t like plain water, you can always add a slice of lemon or orange.
0 fats; 0 calories. What’s not to love? 😀

P.s. Oh, I found this online too: 9 powerful reasons to drink water.

Faizura February 24, 2010 at 9:25 pm

In my opinion, miracle comes in the form of hard work and determination. Every woman wishes for a miracle in order to lose her weight. I am the best epitome of a miraculous survivor of a healthy diet which I thought was impossible to achieve. I was once 60 kilogram. Now, I am just 51 kilogram; with smoking hot curves!!! Gear up to know my miracle?

Although it took a lot of effort and willpower, I have successfully changed my eating routine. Instead of the usual “roti canai”, I have fruits for breaksfast especially apple and banana. The fruits are not only nutritious but they are very fulfilling too. I eat about two apples or three bananas every morning. Then, lunch time rings its bell. I would usually have either “mee soup” or two slices of toasted breads with eggs. The meal would provide carbohydrate and protein; giving me enough energy to work for the rest of the evening. Lastly, I would take grapes for dinner. I would usually finish a small bunch of grapes while watching the news. The grapes provide vitamins and minerals that would help to rejuvenate my skin and energy. Hence, I would be refresh to start my day tomorrow.

Honestly, I have been following the diet for nearly two years. Initially, it was difficult. As time goes by, I could cope up with the diet and see the improvement in my apperance. I also feel more confidence and younger-looking!!

Nevertheless, it might work differently depending on one’s metabolisme and daily activities. Do give it a try. You will never know until you have experienced it. Miracle does happen, won’t you agree? <3

Jean February 24, 2010 at 9:52 pm

oh.. my tips is always drink a glass of warm water before you eat anything.
It will let you feel full faster so you won’t eat a lot, plus, water is good for your body and skin!!!

Daphnee February 24, 2010 at 10:56 pm

One of the basic tips on weight loss is to take small servings of food. 6 times a day with food that is low in carbs and fats. Carbonated drinks, fast food and instant noodles is a big NO. Take in more food that is high is fibre and vitamins. Also take more solid food and hard food instead of soft food to help you feel full for a longer time :) Also never forget to do exercises at least twice a week. :)

PattyBelle: IF I win, I’d like the red sequinned bag, ok? 😉

Wanna go from 90 kg to 58 kg after you’ve had a baby? Just do like I did:

1. I don’t diet since I love food (I was breastfeeding anyway). Just took my usual breakfast, lunch and dinner with a tea thrown in. No supper other than a mug of Milo or low-fat UHT milk.

2. Walk, walk, walk. Since I had a desk-bound job, which helps the hip spread W-I-D-E-R, I’d forgo the phone and email and just showed up at people’s desks asking for what I want. Faster results too 😀

3. Drink lots of water – breastfeeding required it so that was easy but working in air-cond rooms dry out your skin anyway.

4. Eat more fruit. I’m terrible at this because I’m super lazy so Hubby gets me the easiest fruits to eat e.g. green/red apples, guava, pears, grapes.

5. NO snacking. I’m not a snacker (I’m a craver!) so this is easy for me but I know a lot of people who do and their desk drawers are filled with cookies, chips, nuts, sweets, preserved fruits, “energy bars” which are ALL high in simple carbs, fats, salt, preservatives and CALORIES.

If you need to pop something into your mouth, try apple cubes, raisins, almonds (ok, tough even for Willy from ‘Ugly Betty’ but worth a try!), pumpkin seeds etc. Check out your local organic store for healthier snacks :-)

I hope this helps and I hope I WIN!!!

Exercise is the key to losing weight, and having the weight stay off. Combine cardio workouts with strength training (weight training) to tone up your muscles. With more toned muscles, you lose calories even while sitting on the couch watching TV!

Gemz February 25, 2010 at 1:41 pm

Repeat after me…. Diet and Exercise….there are no short cuts. Slimming pills may send one down the painful path of Andrea de Cruz.

Dietwise, incorporate these food items into your diet – oats (tastes yucky, I know), apples (should be easy), eggs (much maligned but it works), cinnamon and almonds. Start your day by drinking a glass of water with two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. As the mantra goes, breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper, instead of in reverse!

Exercisewise, just get moving on whatever activity strikes your fancy – walking, jogging, gym, pilates, swimming, dancing or any combination thereof. I know, I know. it’s easier said than done. For something easier (sorry, married ladies only), get as much nooky as you can – this is advocated by Oprah’s very own health consultant, Dr. Mehmet Oz. Everyone knows you burn lots of calories that way! *wink* wink*.

Josephine February 25, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Oh i read one about Kelly Osbourne’s weight loss secret! and i’m currently trying it out.

It’s to have something without carbos or sugar just before sleeping for keeping the metabolism going on, so to burn fats longer as we sleep. she also paired it with yoga, but i’m pairing it with eating lesser! Lol. I do hope it works!

leech February 25, 2010 at 10:42 pm

to travel! or try to stay active by going out meeting friends or random art gallery visits. Esp during weekends where its so easy to skip lunch and yet overcompensate with a heavy dinner or pile up on junk food while sitting in front of the tellies.

Callie February 25, 2010 at 11:46 pm

1) stress-it works differently from each individual. I went for my uni orientation and I don’t know for what reason I just lost 3 pounds in around 4 days. I don’t know why, its weird though.

2)Drink cold water- When we drink cold water, our body uses energy to warm the water in our body and hence we burn more calories.

3)Go for cardio. Around 500 jumps of skipping rope and 200 times of star jump a day will do the work+squats.

4)weight lifting- To tone the arms though. Building up more muscle mass burns more calories that fat mass.

5)never snack after 8-I know its a tempting supper. But self control is the most basic thing we could do for ourselves.

6)Limit carbs at night-I am a fan of carbs. But I do make sure i don’t binge on carbs stuff after 8.

7) last but not the least. hydrate yourself with lots of water.=)

entwined February 26, 2010 at 1:38 pm

For me, the easiest dieting tip is to cut out all forms of sweet drinks – no soft drinks and no bottled juices – because these drinks are laden with sugar and they’re extremely high in calorie content! I either go for Coke Light on the rare occassion that I eat McDs or make my own freshly squeezed juice. Other than that, it’s plain water all the way! :)

miriam February 27, 2010 at 2:16 am

1. Only eat 10 hard-boiled eggs for the first 3 days.

2. No rice or noodle from 4th day onwards. Take only vege and eggs (10). You may only eat 3 yoke and eat all the egg white.

3. Third week onwards, you may eat rice (2 spoonful of rice only) during lunch/dinner.

Basically, the whole diet is to cut down the carbo.

Joyce Loh February 27, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Aurora February 28, 2010 at 12:44 am

For me, losing weight is quite easy as I found out that I tend to lose weight ‘unconsiously’ while I’m on holiday :) I was not sure why this always happened after I was on a short or long break (3 days or more) from my work, until I read an article which stated that STRESS will cause people to put on weight.

Thinking back and compared to the things I did during my break and my working days, I think I know the real reason behind this. I tend to eat more while I’m working (this could be due to stress as I feel hungry easily while I’m working) and have no time or mood for exercises or any physical activities after my work; as I just feel too tired and lazy to move at all. While you are too tired, you don’t bother to cook your own meal. Hence, eating out or fast food delivery seems to be the most ‘reasonable’ choice 😛

So, I think to lose weight; besides Exercise regularly + Eat Healthy, Take a Break and Free Your Mind from Stress :)

Rachel.L February 28, 2010 at 11:47 pm

Some diet and health tips that I have been practicing:

1. Eat half a grapefruit every morning, this method helped me loose 1kg to 1.5kg over twelve weeks and it does increase my metabolism. With this method I’m sure to loose about 1kg – 3kg each month. And oh, it can help to prevent diabetes too!

2. I always carry a 1 litre water bottle around and I always make sure that I refill it two times a day. There I have it, 2 litre of water a day. This is a way to make sure that I drink at least 2 litre of water a day.

3. For each meal, break them down to half and eat at separate time. For example your lunch, eat half of your lunch around 12pm or 1pm then consume the other half of your lunch around 3pm or 4pm. Do this for 3 of your meals. It will increase your metabolism like crazy! Eat more but in a healthy way to super increase your metabolism. Best to eat after every 3 hours. An apple or a piece of cracker will do for the in between hours of meals.
This method increases my metabolism till I have gastric even if I eat 6 meals a day and makes me sweat even when I’m just sitting down and doing absolutely nothing.

Mine is to sleep enough, cut down on the alcohol, sodas, junk food, carbs, and coffee. Drink teas (green tea and Chinese tea), but don’t add sugar to it.

Oh, and exercise. Something I need more of!

shiki March 1, 2010 at 2:22 am
