Ask & Answer: What reputable online sellers or stores have you used?

by Paris B on January 8, 2010 · 13 comments

Reader Neophyte Julia left a comment on a previous post about fake cosmetics. She wanted to know where other than Ebay can you get authentic affordable makeup:-

Can anyone recommend trustworthy eBay cosmetic vendors? I’ve visited some reputable online sellers, but the prices and/or shipping fees can be discouraging- especially when I’ve never tried them before!

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for someone living in the states? What’s my best bet for affordable, genuine, unexpired makeup?

Thanks!

Personally, I shop online primarily on StrawberryNET.com. I’ve never had problems with them and they have a decent stock of both Western and Asian cosmetics. For Asian cosmetics, I’ve also used adambeauty.com and ichibankao.com in my time. I find that Asian cosmetics online aren’t that cheap for us here in Malaysia (we can actually get them cheaper at counters here) but its affordable for the rest of the world and these sites are relatively reliable. It is a boon in fact, if you are in a country where Asian cosmetics are rare.

I don’t shop on ebay anymore so I’m afraid I’m of no help recommending reputable ebay sellers. If you are looking for reviews on Asian cosmetics, look on LotusPalace. Kathi is a fountain of information when it comes to Asian cosmetics and where to buy them. She also highlights her favourite ebay sellers now and then.

Now, over to you.

Where online do you get affordable, genuine, unexpired makeup? Do you have trusted ebay sellers or ebay stores to recommend?

I’ve only ever purchased makeup from one ebay seller, and that was all right. Perhaps my best advice when buying from ebay is to pay with PayPal because the buyer is protected from unscrupulous sellers.

So far, I’ve only been buying makeup from LovingMinerals.com, hahaha. I’d love to get some Urban Decay stuff, but the prices on eBay are marked up so high that I’m usually put off by it. wuwu.
Since I’m a college girl and on a college girl’s budget, I can’t really afford high-end stuff, so I usually find dupes with drugstore brands or Elianto instead. hehehehe.

Hi hi,

I shopped on cosmetics from ebay before, I’ll tend to check out comments on the seller before placing my order. I feel that seller from the states, or western countries offer genuine product . Oh well, so far strawberry.net is ok for me. Hope this helps.

happy weekends!

I shop on ebay. Bought brushes and makeup. I also sell on ebay.

Besides that, I buy from BeautyCrunch, CherryCulture, Essential Beauty Supplies, Coastal Scents, and somemore can’t exactly remember. :D

Never had any really bad experience before.

For those who read Chinese (or if you have a friend that does), Cutey Girl stocks mainly Taiwan and China beauty products (BB creams, masks, basic 3 steps facial items, etc). For popular products from brands like Shills which have a lot of fakes, they’ll even teach you how to check if your product is authentic.

I find their prices reasonable and since they’re quite reputable among Malaysian Chinese-speaking fashionistas, and a registered company, I have confidence in their authenticity claims. Shipping is a flat rate of RM5 locally through Sky Net’s courier service ;)

Oops, I got Cutety Girl’s shipping policy mixed up. RM8 for Peninsular Malaysia, and free for orders above RM100. For Sabah and Sarawak, RM8 for the first 500g only, but customers in these states can opt Pos Malaysia’s shipping methods.

Sorry about my blunder >.<

Oh thanks for the hints!!!
I LOVE asian make up, but here in my country is either too expensive or just not available, being the last most common.
I usually try ebay but I had my share of disappointment.
Thanks again.

I never buy cosmetics from any ebay sellers… for some reason, I do not trust them… especially when they sell it super cheap!
