Guerlain Kiss Kiss Pearl Gloss Extreme Shine – Crystal Pearl is a kind of magic!

in Lip Gloss, Product Reviews

Lip glosses and I are not the best of friends. We share a love hate relationship where I love some like the Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipglosses (I have ever since the Divinora style beaten gold caps) but detest most others except the Stage Wondergloss. I have lips with expensive taste :P

I never voluntarily slick on lip gloss unless I want sheer glossy lips so clear lip glosses are never in the fore front of my mind. So when I dug around my collection and found the Guerlain Kiss Kiss Crystal Pearl #800 extreme shine lipgloss that I’d forgotten about, I thought to discard it.

Until I remembered just what clear or white lip glosses are good for.

TIP: White or clear lip glosses are excellent for adding shine and gloss and at the same time, toning down bright colours or making dark lipstick look more vibrant. They don’t add colour like coloured glosses do so there is no fear of messing up your regular lipstick.

I threw it into my makeup kit which I took to do my bridesmaid makeup last year to test it out.

I did test it out and I’m in love with this lip gloss! Yes its been a year and I’ve been using it so much I surprised myself, and I had to tell you about it.

Like the other Kiss Kiss lipglosses, Crystal Pearl has high shine, is super glossy and is not sticky. Now, when I say not sticky, I mean that when you put your lips together, they don’t stick to each other and when applied you do not feel like you are wearing any lip gloss. Regular Kiss Kiss lipglosses are also very pigmented and stay on through eating and drinking (to a degree) without slicking off quickly. It is the reason why Guerlain KissKiss lipglosses are always right at the top of my lip gloss list, bank breaking or no.

I’ve tried to show you how I use it. For purposes of demonstration I used the Rimmel Gloss Maxx lipstick #004 – a pretty normal colour on my lips. The lipstick is glossy but not what you’d call glam. To up the ante, I dab on some of the Guerlain Crystal Pearl on my lips and then lightly pat it all over.

Instant shine, gloss and lip plumping effect! Plus, the colour took on an iridescence that was just never present before. I was so enamoured! I saw that the gloss had added little sparkly glossy shimmer to my lips which even the most shimmery lipstick cannot quite duplicate. Hence the scary up close pics :)

In the tube Cyrstal Pearl looks white with an iridescent shimmer. Quite innocuous. I took the test further, and dabbed it over red lipstick. It toned down the brightness of the red, gave me a sexy pout and shone! I even wore this over some of the most unflattering lip shades I own – brown, nude, light pink and every single time, it worked its magic to transform the lipstick from blah to wow!

I’m going to stop raving about it now because I can and everyone’s going to get bored of it. So, if you want a magical lipgloss that transforms your lipsticks from flat colour to iridescent glossy shine don’t hesitate – just head on down to your nearest Guerlain counter and pick up the Guerlain Kiss Kiss Extreme Shine Gloss in Crystal Pearl #800.

At a retail price of RM82 a gloss, your wallet will cry but you might just be so hypnotized by the magic it works on your lipstick that you will willingly handover the wads of cash without thinking- I did :P

Pros: Super glossy non-sticky lipgloss, Works well with any lipstick shade, Adds shine and iridescence to lips, Transforms lipstick shades to gorgeous tones

Cons: Pricey

If I was still including ratings, I’d rate this 5/5 but then I’m not so I won’t ;)

And here we are on a Monday again cruising down the home stretch to the end of 2009. For us here in Malaysia, its a short week (we get Friday off) and I’ll be going away with the family so that’s going to be fun.

Do you have plans to look forward to this week?

I rarely wear lipgloss, but thanks for the review.

About the short week, I think I’ll just stay at home :)

Hi prettybeautiful

There are a few brands with non sticky lipglosses. Those are the only ones I’d use and yes I like your logic about saving money in the long run! ;)

This is not for me then. I seldom wear lipstick and I normally wear lip gloss only. So I need a colour lip gloss :D

Lovely pics. That gloss is perfect! I love guerlain glosses because they aren’t sticky and they have a brush applicator!

I love how it transformed your lipstick, the combo is gorgeous! And it’s nice to know it isn’t sticky. I don’t use lipsticks enough to justify buying such an expensive gloss though.
