Louvre Me Louvre Me Not in A Oui Bit of Red by OPI

I’m not much into nail polishes I’m sure you can tell. Painting my fingernails well is almost impossible since I’m not ambidextrous. But I’m always game to try something new and I love it when my friends force me to step out of my comfort zone.

My first and only OPI nail lacquers in Louvre Me Louvre Me Not and A Oui Bit of Red are birthday gifts from a friend who knows only too well how much I like my red anything :)

I started out with A Oui Bit of Red because I wanted to see how it fares when compared to Revlon’s Red Hot Tamale. Both reds are gorgeous – they bring sexy back to your naked toes! OPI’s was a little darker and had more blue tones in it. Its also thicker. I found I preferred the lighter texture of Revlon’s nail polish, but I like how long lasting OPI’s is and how bright it stayed. I’m sporting this on my fingers now though for a touch of festive nails – bright and bold, just how I like it, and its barely chipped after 3 days even with daily typing! :)

I was taken in by Dior’s Christmas 2009 purple nail lacquer but I’m going to skip it now I have OPI’s Louvre Me Louvre Me Not :) The colour is a rich deep royal purple with red tones that looks amazing on both fingers and toes. Do excuse the mess on the toes – I did say I wasn’t good at this :P

I found the texture of this purple shade heavier than the red one – I wonder why. It felt drier and was harder to apply without streaking so I preferred to keep it on my toes where bungles aren’t so noticable. I’m going to try it on my fingers again though – its too pretty to hide on my toes.

The thing I like about using OPI nail colours is that the long cap is easy to grip and the brush applies very well without too much streaking. I’m a klutz when painting nails but even I managed to get these relatively neat. I guess that’s the difference between pricey and affordable nail polishes?

So here’s my first OPI introduction – might there be more? I shudder at the thought of YET another addiction hehe… :)

Oh and on a side note, I love OPI’s names of their polishes. I’d like to think somewhere in OPI HQ there is a room with bunches of people in it coming up with corny and punny names for their polishes. I’d like a job like that :D

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

i love the purple! so gorgeous!!! sometimes when my nail polish gets too thick, i would add ABIT (one tiny drop) of solvent to dilute a little. I heard someone saying for OPI must buy the solvent, but i have tried mixing it with brandless solvent it still works fine. *shrugs*

Hey Prettybeautiful

Thanks for the tip about solvents! I’m not sure if its dry or if its just the texture.

mm… i love the purple! I don’t think i have one quite in that shade but I’m eyeing chanel’s vendetta
congratulations on your new addiction! lacquer is that little bit more fun because the colours are always visible to you (as opposed to other makeup which others can see but you only see when you look into a mirror)
I got hooked over a year ago >)

Hey geekchic

You’re right – polishes can change your look and mood quite easily. I think I should go a little more demure soon hehe

i always buy nail polish n never use them coz my left hand is so stiff and i always only manage to make the ones one the left hand look nice… for my toes i let it get done by pros… u should let the manicurist do ur toes, it can last up to 2months at time, and the experience is just too pampering…

Hi Germaine

I used to get pedicures done but it got too expensive and I realised that for my toes, no one can see how good/bad a job it is! So I just save the money and do it myself. The last time I went for a pedicure, my nail got infected so never again.

You know what, Paris? That bit about the OPI HQ and groups of people just sitting around coming up with names? That’s absolutely true! :) The colours look absolutely delish on you!

Sported Lourve Me Lourve Me Not at least a month ago at my pedi. The shade looked different on mine though. Yours is probably different due to the flash. I like that colour.

Hi Abby

I don’t take pictures with flash :) But it might look different due to different monitor settings – I try to get it as close to the original but its never perfect. I like the colour too! I’m going to get it on my finger nails soon.
