The Diorskin Poudre Shimmer Ultra Shimmering All Over Face Powder is a mouthful! It is also an item I’d been wanting for a long long time. When I first wanted it, it was RM125 and now, dammit! Its RM145! :P

But bought it I did recently (with a RM20 voucher so I still got it for RM125 ha! ) and I’m (almost) ready to say goodbye to my MAC Porcelain Pink MSF :P I’m still not super wow-ed by Dior’s eyeshadows but their face and lip products always get me raving.

The DiorSkin shimmer powder is a really nice product if you want a touch of highlight on your skin without obvious shimmer. Unlike the MAC mineralize skin finish, you don’t get glitter on your skin.

Mine is 001 Rose Diamond a light rose-pink highlighter shade. The lovely lady at the Dior counter at Robinsons The Gardens tested it on me and we agreed that it was the best shade for me. There are another 3 shades available but those tend towards being slightly brown.

Although Rose Diamond looks highly shimmery in the pan, on skin, its quite imperceptible. The lady told me its useful for highlighting cheekbones and also to use as blush.

To highlight cheekbones

Using a dense face brush, dust it over the shimmer powder over all the shades and then shake off excess. Draw a C from the end of your brow to your cheekbone. Repeat on the other side. Use any excess on the bridge of your nose. Layer as required.

I find that on my skin, there is no visible shimmer or glitter, just a soft subtle diffused glow. It even helps blur some skin imperfections. Tricking the eye is a clever thing to do indeed! It does not show up in pictures hence no photos! But in person… WOW! :D

Using just the pink end of the powder, I can just about use it as a blush. It is a soft rose pink on my cheeks with just the right amount of shimmer so I don’t end up looking like a disco ball or like an oil slick. I love how it brightens my skin – I look more awake – and gently highlights with a glow without looking overdone. I can’t rave more so I’ll stop right here :P

You can get this magic powder at all Dior counters for RM145 or online at
Strawberrynet for US$46
which might be cheaper than retail depending on where you live.

Pros: Subtle shimmer, Fine milled powder, Nice casing

Cons: Nothing I can find – I love this one!

DiorSkin Shimmer Powder vs MAC Porcelain Pink MSF

How the DiorSkin shimmer powder is different from the MAC Porcelain Pink MSF lies mainly in the texture and application – Dior is much finer in texture and less shimmery so its not so easy to over do it. The difference in price is a mere RM20 so price wise there isn’t much to compare.

So now I have 2 pink toned shimmer highlighters on my hands. Weighing both, I prefer the DiorSkin Shimmer Poudre over MAC Porcelain Pink MSF. Now, what do I do with the one from MAC?! :P

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

I had given up on Blusher or any product that help to highlight cheekbones long ago, reason being those product clog my pores and they caused breakout after that. This was what my beautician told me when she notice that my breakout tend to happen only on those part with blusher. And again, I have sensitive skin, I do not think i should blame it entirely on the products. So i been without a blusher / shimmer for cheekbones for years now.
Looking at the DiorSkin shimmer powder, hmm… I think i dont mind to give it a try. :)

Hi Alexis

I’m sorry blush causes problems for you. It might be the ingredients in blush that cause it. You might be allergic to the red pigment. Have you tried mineral blushes? They tend to be less irritating.

Hi Joyce

I would like to do that but unfortunately both do not show up well in photos – its something you can only see in real life. None of my photos turned out hence the lack of photo comparisons. I’m not sure about MAC but Dior’s is a permanent collection so you can check it out at the store next time you’re there.

Is Dior stuff always this gorgeous? I think I’m turning a Dior fan because of you. :)

Can you use it to highlight the inner corner if your eyes ? I’m really really tempted to get this, although it’s way out of my budget!! But, my excuse is that it’s going to last last and last, right?

Hiya Aiyu

Yes unfortunately Dior stuff are this gorgeous LOL… You can use it anywhere you’d use shimmer so yes you can highlight the inner corner of your eyes if you like. I tried it once. The whiter portion has a pink tint though so its not quite white. On the cheeks is gorgeous! Try it out and see :)

Hey Jean

Try Revlon Matte – they are non shimmer and pretty good! I’ll have a review coming up soon… I hope!

Think of me, think of me fondly… when you say goodbye (to your MAC Porcelain Pink). LOL.

Seriously. I don’t mind buying second hand from you if you’re ready to say buh-bye to this pretty lady. =P

But uh-oh, you’re ALSO making me want to try Dior now! No thanks to you and Tine, I’ve got baaad Dior and Chanel cravings (which I’ve stuffed into the little dark closet) and I’m about to burst! o.0 Poor, poor wallet. Oh boy.
