Revlon Red Hot Tamale for the sexiest toes ever!

in Nails, Product Reviews

We know by now nails aren’t quite my forte so when I received the Revlon Nail Enamel in Red Hot Tamale, I merely sat and stared at it for a long while. They weren’t kidding naming it “red hot”!

So I left it for a while on my shelf, stealing looks at it now and again but never daring to paint my fingernails with them. I worried it would look too “slutty” and for some reason I was reminded of the late Florence Griffith Joyner – there my age is showing isn’t it? ;) If you remember her you might remember her flamboyant running outfits and long painted nails.

One night, in a fit of boredom, I decided to paint my toe nails Red Hot Tamale. Truly, I did not quite know what to expect, but wow! I was quite blown away!

Bright nail polish really does it for toe nails, and makes wearing sandals a treat. Just for this alone, I’m glad to be living where its sunny all year round because Red Hot Tamale is such a bright cheery color. 2 coats gave me blood red nails that have lasted about 2 weeks now without too much damage. I’m impressed.

I’m still hesitant to use it on my fingernails, but I think this is going to be one colour I’ll be painting my toes with for a long long while :) I’ve always had a soft spot for Revlon nail polishes – they were my first ever polishes and over the years, I’d used the quick dry version and matte versions too.

A bottle of Revlon nail enamel retails for RM19.90. Not too bad, methinks as its a great smooth formula that is opaque, bright and dries quickly. The last is important for me because I’m impatient.

Pros: Bright colour, Does not fade quickly, Dries relatively quickly, affordable

Cons: This color is too bright for nails unless you are the brave sort!

The last red I had on my toes was OPI I’m not a waitress. If you want to sport blood red nails whether on fingers or toes, you could do worse than use Revlon’s Red Hot Tamale!

What’s your favourite nail enamel colour for fingers or toes? I prefer something light and shimmery on my nails because it does not show up chips so quickly but I’m prepared to go bold and bright on my toes. You?

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

Hi Paris
i think the trick to avoid the scary FloJo look (yes i remember her too!) is to paint red nail polish onto shorter fingernails, not long talons.
as for favourite colours, anything goes for toenails but for fingernails i prefer either very dark or nude-look polishes.

Hi

Lovely color. Maybe you want to add some flowers to it. You can get some ideas from my site.

Hi Pauline

Thanks I don’t do nail art and especially not on my toes. I can make exceptions for fingers but flowers on toes on anyone really bug me. Its a personal thing :)

Revlon Nail Enamel is my favourite nail polish series so far! I really love how the colour is so so rich, yet it is so thin, dries literally in an InStAnT, and has a good brush.

But the thing bad about Revlon Nail Enamel is that it chips very easily even though I apply top coat. And it also does not settles down properly. I always have streaks on my nails though I apply two coats as the instruction says.

I love Cherry Crush on my toe nails. Looks a little overboard for my fingernails though.

I got it when there was $3 off at Watsons about 2 months ago, only S$7.90.

Hi Jyoan

I’m not sure about it chipping – I rarely have it on long enough :) But I do tend to agree with you about a little streaking. I find that having the first layer dry first before applying the second helps some. Its more obvious in the darker colours hence I keep mistakes for my toes! :D

I love reds for the festive seasons as I’m quite shy about wearing something so ‘brazen’ to work ^^;; On normal days it’s pinks, corals, greens and lavenders ^_^ I have a strange growing collection of green polishes. Maybe I’ve been influenced by my boss too much. The company colour is this nice lime green ^_^;;;

Hi Saintangelius

That’s why you should keep brazen colour for your toes! ;) I’m sure its acceptable at work ;) Green polishes are interesting. I’m going to have to try some.

The red is very sexy :)

I love vampy colours on my nails. My work place is quite conservative (but they really don’t care what you wear as long as you perform) and I love to stun the uncles with a vampy dark blue- OPI’s Russian Navy is a classic favourite. Another is this green which reminds me of peacock feathers by Bloom called Bianca. On toes, I love brights. I can’t remember when the last time my feet saw the sunlight, time to bring out this super bright pink from Essie that I love. I used to hoard nail polish but I’ve sort of stopped.

Hiya Geekchic

Ahh…. I’ve been wanting to sport gothic looking nails but never found the “right” polish. Opi Russian Navy you say? Time to check it out!
