Review: Elianto Organic Olive Shampoo, Conditioner and UV Essence

in Hair, Product Reviews

Elianto the local cosmetic brand took a step into hair care recently with the launch of their new Organic Olive range of products for the hair.

Elianto Organic Olive

Olive Oil is known to help deal with dandruff and flaky scalps and also to strengthen hair and make it more manageable. You can either use olive oil straight onto your hair (which is a mess – believe me I’ve tried!) or you can use a hair product with Olive oil like this one from Elianto.

One thing I noted – the product contains no parabens and no mineral oil. Interesting. However, like many “organic” products I’ve used, it seems to have caused the skin on my hands to peel a little so I’ve stopped using them.

Elianto Organic Olive Scalp Care Shampoo – RM35/400ml

The texture is opaque and quite thick and does not lather up a lot. I believe there is no Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) hence the lack of lather. It does clean the scalp and hair a treat though, without leaving it feeling squeaky or dry. As this is meant for oily hair, I’d say it does a decent job for a shampoo.

I do have one comment – the scent is quite strong and I’m sorry to say, smells a little cheap to my sensitive nose. I don’t know if its fragrance added in but it does not smell natural. I think it would be better without the scent.

Elianto Organic Olive Illuminating Conditioner – RM35/400ml

Interesting point to note. The conditioner comes in the same size as the shampoo. In most other brands, the conditioner comes in a smaller bottle/tube which makes you spend more :P

The conditioner is a thick white cream which I find I have to use quite a lot of. Unfortunately, I find that it does not make my hair feel as manageable as when I use my regular Dove hair conditioner. The scent is more subdued though and easier on the nose. This might be good for those with oily hair – its light but if you have drier hair like I do, its not sufficient. After a week using this, I gave up as my hair was drying out.

Elianto Organic Olive Essence – RM29/120ml

Perhaps I got a fluke but my bottle was a bit leaky. The essence is supposed to contain UV protecting qualities so your hair is protected from the damaging sun’s rays. That’s a good thing.

You can also use this light essence on wet or dry hair. I tried it on both. On dry hair as a serum – it tames flyaways a bit but feels a little heavy. On dry hair, I prefer using the Sunsilk leave in hair conditioner. On wet hair before blow drying. It made the hair a little more manageable.

However, my grouse would be the scent. Its strong on this one so if you have taken a sniff and find its not for you, then I’m afraid you won’t like the essence either. However, if you don’t mind the scent then the essence is a pretty affordable buy. I’m not quite sure what I will do with the rest of mine.

The whole Elianto Organic Olive hair care range is available at Elianto counters and boutiques or online.

Aside: I find it absolutely fascinating that Elianto which means sunflower has launched an organic olive hair range, and Kiehl’s will be launching a sunflower hair range later this year! Irony.

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

Does Kiehl’s mean olive? I got a this range to review too and I’ll admit I’m SCARED to! I have long hair that is always in danger of fragility.

Hey Kahani

Actually Kiehl’s is the name of a man no? I’ve no idea :P If you’re going to try the Elianto one, I won’t quite recommend it for your hair.

Yes, Kiehl’s is the name, or rather surname of the founder of Kiehl’s! :)
