Ask & Answer : Where can you have good facials in Kuala Lumpur / Petaling Jaya?

ask us!

I missed my monthly facial yesterday! :( It was due to work and the fact I could not make it back to the city in time for it in the evening. I was so looking forward to it too since it was a long day. That said, I quite enjoyed “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” last night – It is mindless and a little draggy in parts; a little funny in parts; a little touching but overall just a decent chick flick.

But on the subject of facials, we didn’t seem to find many good affordable places for facials in Melbourne last I asked. So lets try taking it a little closer to home.

Abby left a comment on the post as follows:-

Speaking about facials, I am wondering about the good ones in KL/PJ. Besides Clarins, Kanebo and Lancome. I am sure there are others. I hope others will share their knowledge too.

Sorry i have never been to Melbourne thus don’t know any. But it is good to know for when i go there!

We all know I love facials and I’m truly picky about my facial places. I have some places I go to regularly or which I have tried and liked.

So far, the ones I enjoy going to are:-

Ok, I know they are a little on the swanky side but facials are a luxury for me and a chance for some good quality “me time” and “sleep time” :) The salons might be swanky but I however tend to go for “promotional rate” facials – rarely do I pay the full price because… I’m tightfisted thats why! :P

I haven’t gone to other salons but perhaps you might and have one to recommend?

Where can we find good and affordable facial salons in Kuala Lumpur / Petaling Jaya / Sunway? Why do you like going there?

Fire away facial afficionados!

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

I rarely go for facials anymore, but when I do I go to Disseta at One Utama. It’s a nice relaxing experience =) It is slightly pricey but I think they have promotions most of the time =)

Do check it out if you’re in the area!

My usual facial salon is River Beauty located at BB Plaza, 3rd Floor. My sister stumbled upon this salon many years back when she had a breakout and even the salons in Singapore could not help. Since she loves and enjoys shopping into details, she went for around Sg Wang Plaza and BB Plaza and found it. There are many others around there, but it was a very good find. They use Darphin and Decleor products and the owners don’t push us to buy any products. There is one miracle product from Taiwan – Repairing Lotion from Panco. Really works for problem/sensitive skin, better than Cellnique.

Budget constraints have lead me to do home spas and facials. But when I do decide to give myself a treat I go here:

Beaut’e Fest Salon
Contact Details
S2G, 2nd Floor, East Wing
Phone No: 03-2094 3680

The lady who runs it, Kak Fatimah, is one of the best I’ve had. Her touch is very light and relaxing but boy, do her massages feel good! She really knows how to work out the kinks in your bones.
I like the fact that she uses Thalgo products as well which work well with my sensative skin. Her charges are not as high as you might aspect. It all depends on which package you are taking. I do one for oily sensative skin with a peel off mask and it’s about RM150-180. I like how she does my eyebrows ^^

EPI Derma Formulation. they are a Sdn Bhd, and have plenty of branches. google their website for locations! i’m not one who trusts facial centers easily but so far my progress with them is amazing. they do not squeeze zits and blackheads, they tweeze those suckers out. instead. which means less pain and no infections or bloody messes!

price range can be a bit pricey and similar to branded ones like Lancome etc, but well worth it.

girls are pushy as usual, but my skin condition was so terrible at that time, i just bought their stuff and never looked back! however, their products did what they claimed, which surprised me. finally found a salon that doesn’t bullshit people.they WORK! :D

still having ongoing treatments though, acne is not something you can treat overnight so you must invest time and money with the salon… that’s why you must choose wisely… will update more about this salon when i’ve got decent pics and a good writeup. :D

how ironic.. i just got home from getting a facial done.. i usually get mine done at Holistic Aesthetics centre in Bangsar, Jalan Bankung. they also have one in Solaris, near hartamas but from what i heard its more expensive there. They use Sothy’s products. It costs around 150 to 180 for a double mask and ampoule facial. takes bout an hour and a half.

Hey PB,

Thanks for putting up my question! Seems like there aren’t many other good places. Most of the ones posted here are pretty far. Looks like it really pays to stick to the more established ones.

Hey PB,

Got another question. This time it’s for you. You seem to only go to salons in Bangsar and KL. I’m guessing you live near those areas? But how are the salons say, Lancome or Faubourg that are not in Bangsar Village. There is another Lancome at the Curve and Faubourg at 1Utama. Have you been to those? And Clarins is also at 1Utama. Just wondering if the standard is different?

Thanks!

Hi Abby

You’re absolutely right. I live and work in KL so I go to the salons closest to where I live/work. I honestly cannot say how the salons at 1Utama or the Curve are. I might try them out some time but they are so far away! Perhaps someone who has tried the services at those outlets can let us know they like it. Personally I don’t think it should be any different but then since its a personal service, its hard to say. Let’s hope someone will help us both out with our curiousity ;)

Mimi, if you’re around PJ area, check out Image Beauty Salon at Atria Damansara (it’s on the 1st floor, take the escalator at KFC and walk straight ahead after Victoria Music Station). Shirley, the owner, sells Thalgo and Panco products.

Am actually waiting for my mask to dry at D Image as I write. Shirley’s very good with problem skin, especially acne. Her extraction is fine and she is very thorough. She’s not pushy with products and has the whole Panco range. She’s been doing this for the longest time and says Panco’s the best for acne

Would just like to ask.. is it better to go for stand-alone facials (as in per visit) or to go for pre-paid facials (bought as a set)?

This part is still hazy in my mind- as in how would the customer know if a salon’s policy where the staff would not ask the customer to “top-up”..

there is this sothys-partner salon near my home, and they have proposed a good package to me, but I am not sure if they will ask me to top-up the next round i go there? That’s what i do not like about pre-pay facials.
