I no longer use mineral makeup for various reasons not least of which problems with color matching is one and untold reactions are another. I’m presently happy with my powder foundations from various brands and I don’t intend to stray icon smile Review: Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush

everyday Review: Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush

That said, with the Everyday Minerals Flat Top brush mocking me for abandoning mineral foundation, I had to find another use for it. And find it I did!

The Everyday Minerals flat top brush is excellent for applying powder foundation!

All the benefits of the flat top brush comes to play when using powder foundations as with mineral foundation. The packed synthetic bristles are super soft on the skin and easy to wash (although it takes AGES to dry) and it applies powder foundation like a dream.

I’d used powder brushes to apply my foundation before to help it go on more sheerly but they’d always been the domed sort see: Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush.

With a flat top, the Everyday Minerals brush picks up powder easily and you can buff it into the skin too to create a more even finish. In fact, I’ve found that with slight buffing, I take the powder further thereby using less product on my face, yet giving enough coverage. The coverage is also more natural and sheer and less cakey than if I was to use a sponge. It offers slightly better coverage than a fluffy powder brush too.

So, like many happy owners of this little brush marvel, I will stick to using the Everyday Minerals flat top brush to apply my powder foundations. I’m a happy camper!

It does take a while to dry after washing. Unlike my other brushes, this one takes at least 2.5 days to fully dry. Sometimes I cheat and run my hair dryer quickly over it when I’m drying my hair so its semi dry, before air drying, but I don’t do it often for fear of spoiling it.

The Everyday Minerals Flat Top brush costs RM39 at LovingMinerals.com or US$10 on Everyday Minerals‘ website.

Pros: Soft bristles, Picks up color easily, Gives a smooth look to the foundation, Affodable

Cons: Takes forever and a day … and a half to dry

Hi plue

Yep its about a day at least to dry if I’m patient or faster if I take a dryer to it. Its pretty good for powder foundation. I’ve stopped using the sponges.

I love using this brush for my mineral foundation. I try to separate my brushes so that I’ll have excuse to own more :p I ought to use this brush with my pressed powder foundations too. The sponge just looks so icky most of the time :-/

Hiya Connie

Sneaky but effective way to get more brushes! ;) I actually started using it for powder foundation because of the sponge. I can never get it clean… and tend to forget anyway

I’ve been using this too! Though I only need about half a day or so to dry, I wash at the end of every week.

After washing I’d flick the water off, bristles side down. Then wrap the bristles with towel/thick wad of tissue and squeeze hard! Then I’d fluff the bristles out before balancing the brush on the edge of a table to dry (so that the bristles isn’t in contact with any surface).

Haha, I just don’t understand why some ppl’s brushes take so long to dry. It’s a common complaint. Maybe so happens my room is in a dry air spot? =(
