I decided to go totally cloth with my most recent period. I can tell you that I've never had a real (non-birth control induced) period that was so easy. My periods have always been super heavy, super painful and super long.

I keep reading other women's accounts of having lighter periods with cloth. There's got to be something in the disposable pads that cause periods to be heavier. It doesn't make sense but I'm not going back. I've never before had a period with pain! I'm a convert. LOL

I use cloth pads exclusively. Have not read all the replies so I apologize in advance if this is a repeat.

If the *ick* factor is stopping some of you from fully converting there is an easy way around it. Get a container about the size of a gallon pickle jar, glue some scraps of cloth around it so it hides the contents. Then put your used cloth pads in there with some cold water. At the end of your period or every couple days dump the entire thing into the washer. Run it through a rinse cycle (cold water) then wash with the rest of your laundry. You don't have to see or touch the blood. If you are a cloth diapering mama like I am you can toss in a load of diapers with the cloth pads.

Hi Indira

I'm still using disposables at night on heavy days but I get by with the cloth pads in the day although I have to change them halfway through the day. On lighter days, I'm on cloth pads throughout :)
