Going shopping with friends is always fun but we can get bad for each other e.g. Beetrice and myself. We were not planning to go shopping. We were planning to “check out” the Bloop de Paris counter at Sunway Pyramid (the only free standing one so far) to perhaps heckle it and thanks to her, I ended up with the gel eyeliner. Teehee… She might tell you a different tale :P

Bloop de Paris strangely enough, has no web presence, so I can’t find out anything about this company. Suffice to say that it is a Malaysian company which I was told gets their stuff from Paris. At their low low prices, I seriously doubt this claim – just look at the Euro-RM currency conversion rate and you’ll know what I mean.

Still, the gel eyeliner in a little round pot caught my eye not for anything, but because its a nice shimmery plum shade. There is no colour name on the pot – bad! The gel eyeliners come in a few shades and although the bottom half is transparent, its filled with gel liner so they all look dark/black. Names or numbers or some form of identification would be nice if anyone’s taking notes.

Packaging gripes aside, how does the Bloop de Paris gel eyeliner perform? Very well actually – I was impressed.

The gel eyeliner is very smooth and applies very smoothly with any eyeliner brush. Mine came with a crack in it but it was still smooth and not dry. It might be a packaging thing I’m not sure.

When I bought the eyeliner, I was told they were giving a brush free with purchase of the eyeliner but usually they don’t and I think they sell the brush separately. The brush given by Bloop is not bad – it can be covered so its travel friendly and the brush head is quite a useful size although a little thick. If you already own an eyeliner brush you won’t need this.

I liked the Bloop eyeliner for 2 reasons:-

  • The plum colour shows up well as a plum with slight shimmer; and
  • It is super waterproof

Note I said “super” waterproof. It does not budge. Not one bit. I tested it on my hand and then proceeded to wash my brushes and my house. At the end of it all, I had my shower and it was still there – as shiny as ever. It removed quite easily with cleansing oil and my usual eye makeup remover so that’s a blessing.

I also wore it all day and night with no smudging, no running and no fading. Not. One. Bit! Very impressive.

The other thing I liked about this gel eyeliner is that there is no fragrance nor chemical smell. This is unlike Kate’s gel eyeliner which has a strong chemical smell to me. I’d liken the Bloop de Paris gel eyeliner to Bobbi Brown’s gel eyeliners – they are that impressive.

Bloop de Paris gel eyeliners retail for RM46 for a little pot that can last a while and you can find Bloop counters in some Jusco stores, KL International Airport and at their free standing counter at Sunway Pyramid (downstairs from The Body Shop). There are some other small Bloop counters scattered around but I don’t know if they stock a decent range of products. I don’t know where else they can be found in abundance so if anyone knows feel free to share the information.

Suffice to say, Bloop de Paris gel eyeliner gets the “Cheap and Good” award from me!

Pros: Longlasting, Nice colour, Waterproof, Affordable, Cute packaging

Cons: Product has no name

Oooh something worthy to check out at Bloop de Paris~ :D I always saw their stuff at Jusco but never tried anything by them so this might be a good introduction! I love eyeliner and always in search of a smudgeproof eyeliner so this sounds good. Thanks for the recommendation! :D

Hi Xisa

I’d say however that not everything is good but I did like this one.

haha…yes I can tell a different story!! :D I’d seen the eyeliner before, but resisted – how come when go with you I ended up buying it as well?? (barring my penchant for purple) hmm…

it was listed under the “new arrivals” for Feb, so we had a 10% discount..hehe..I asked the girl previously – they say you get a “free brush”, but it’s actually bundled together. :)

Hey Beetrice

*giggles* Ya how come you too bought it while with me?! :D It’s pretty so I won’t blame you. I don’t have such a pretty tale to tell about the bath fizzies though *gag*

Hi Nea

Thanks for the link. Still couldn’t find much if any info though – I don’t understand brands who don’t have an internet presence!

Reply

nea March 30, 2009 at 8:36 pm

Yup! definitely agree with you. suppose they don’t have any idea how influential internet really is :)

OOh nice find girls! Thanks… I have a love for gel liners are present although I suspect I’m actually trickling over to liquid liners! Whee!

Reply

ParisB March 30, 2009 at 6:40 pm

Hey Kahani

I’m with gel liners for a quick fast line and liquid liners when I have time for it to dry. Else I have that dreaded double line look :P

Ooooh!!! NICE ONE! Laura mercier had one released not long ago but I’m not sure if it ever made its way over to melbourne *grumble* *grumble* love the plum. so tempted to get one. Hmmm

Hey geekchic

Somehow Laura Mercier really gets overlooked by me. It must be all that brown packaging hehe…

plue March 30, 2009 at 6:10 pm

ooh! looks nice! is there any other colour available? :D am looking for a nice mossy green shade.

Reply

ParisB March 30, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Hey Plue

As far as I can recall, nope. The other colours were black and a deep blue I think. None were as pretty as the plum.

yohhh!!! why didn’t tell me on Saturday? :( I’m such a gel liner addict. I’ve never seen this at Mid Valley’s Jusco. *sighs* I wonder where else would carry these. I don’t go to Sunway often since it’s so out of the way for me. Do you have any idea if they have a shimmery green shade? that’s like the only common color that I’m missing :p

ParisB March 30, 2009 at 6:44 pm

Hi Connie

Too excited maybe… :) Sorry lah I don’t go down there very often too. I don’t recall any greens and you know I’d remember greens right? hehe…

wow this looks good.
but rm 46 very expensive for me.
cause coastal scent only cost like rm 27?
excluding postage that is

Reply

ParisB March 30, 2009 at 7:13 pm

Hi June

I actually felt it was a decent price for a pretty decent product. Not having tried Coastal Scents however, I cannot compare them. The benefit to getting this one of course, is that its instant gratification vs waiting for the mail :)

Hi Eliza

I hope someone can help you – its hard enough trying to find it in KL!

Hi Paris,
I happen to be in Sunway Pyramid today, n did tried the eyeliner u mentioned.
True enough, it was so ‘tahan-lasak’, even after I showered, the swatches on my wrist didn’t fade at all !

To be honest, it scares me a lil, coz it got me wondering what the ingredients are, making it so water-and-soap proof ~

Reply

ParisB March 31, 2009 at 9:50 am

Hey Mag

Its really long lasting right? But you brought up a valid point. There’s no ingredient list etc on the packaging. That said, it still removes easily with regular makeup remover so that did not worry me too much. Now, if it had stayed through makeup remover I’d have been concerned! :)

Reply

Mag March 31, 2009 at 8:27 pm

Yup, even the pencil eyeliners are pretty long lasting.

Have you tried the gel eyeliners from Bobbi Brown ? I read very good reviews of it in MUA and was told it’s one of BB’s best-selling products !

Reply

ParisB April 1, 2009 at 9:41 am

Hi Mag

Yes I have Bobbi Brown gel liners. I don’t think I ever reviewed them though because mine are so old! LOL… Perhaps I should. They are decent gel liners and the ones I cut my gel lining teeth on figuratively speaking.

Oh, I was thinking to try gel liner and Bloop was one of my selection but I think it’s a little overbudget for me.

I really like how pigmented it is and the plum color look amazingly great!

Reply

ParisB March 31, 2009 at 9:51 am

Hi Traclyn

I actually got it more for the color than for texture heh… I think its worth saving up for something that actually works :)

Reply

Connie March 31, 2009 at 10:40 am

Hehe. no need to be sorry :p *sighs* I’m thinking where else I can find this besides Sunway…

Reply

Reese March 31, 2009 at 9:39 pm

I was in Sunway and “bumped” stright to Bloop counter when I came out from the parking. The sales assistant was baffled when I insistted to look at a plum coloured eyeliner and then she realised I wanted the maroon coloured (isn’t it similar?@@).Sorry plum coloured eyeliner, I am a traditionist, bought the black coloured eyeliner instead.

Reply

ParisB April 1, 2009 at 9:41 am

Hi Reese

Ooh that was quick! I think plum/maroon would have looked pretty on you – I prefer calling it plum because it sounds prettier than maroon which brings to mind a matt shade :)

I’ve ever tried the blush once. It’s quite nice for 28RM. I bought in KLIA over one yr ago.
