, I hope you all remembered to remove all your makeup before going to bed. After some last minute planning, I had a blast last evening with a new friend, Kahani of Soloverly at The Curve. Yes, it was fun
I used to use cleansing oils to remove all my makeup every evening just before my shower and when I say all, I mean ALL including eye makeup. It was as a result of 2 things : (1) running out of eye makeup remover and (2) laziness 
However, I’ve recently been told that its not a good idea to use just cleansing oils to remove eye makeup, because the skin around the eye is very thin and delicate. When you use oil on the eye area you have to massage it to remove all the makeup and stubborn mascara and this might result in premature wrinkles and lines around the eyes. Also, cleansing oils might contribute to milia or oil seeds around the eye area.
Since I’m vain I decided to pick up an eye makeup remover and after my facial at my regular Kanebo International salon one evening, I spotted the Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover.
The Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover comes in a cute squat square blue-green bottle that’s slightly opaque. You will notice that there are 2 layers of liquid in the bottle. This is an oil based remover to help remove the most stubborn of makeup.
Here’s how I was taught to properly use an eye makeup remover.
- Shake the bottle before you use to mix up the oil and water.
- Pour some liquid onto a cotton pad, and place over your eyes to soften waterproof mascara (if you are using, if not go to Step 3).
- Fold the cotton pad around your 2nd and 3rd fingers and gently, wipe the cotton pad from the top of your eye lid towards your lashes.
- Use the edge of the cotton pad to remove all traces of eyeliner and mascara. If you tight line, be careful to remove all traces of liner from under your lash line.
- Turn the cotton pad over to the other side and repeat Step 3 and 4 above if you want to save money. If not, use a fresh cotton pad.
Tip: Do not wipe the cotton pad sideways (left to right or vice versa) to remove eye makeup; but wipe it from top to bottom from brow towards your lashes. This will minimize tugging of the skin and reduce the possibility of lines and wrinkles. Also, never drag the delicate skin around your eyes.
I have been using this eye makeup remover for a couple of weeks now, and I like it. I used to use the L’oreal remover that had the two tone blue liquid long before but I noticed that it got hard to find after a while so I’ve stopped looking.
This Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover works very well for me with no scent. I have found that I have to be careful not to pour too much onto the cotton pad, because it can get into my eyes and make things look blurry for a while. That said, it did not irritate my eyes. It removes my Max Factor mascara with 2 swipes of the cotton but it takes a while longer to remove the Diorshow Iconic mascara. Eyeshadow and eyeliner are no match for this makeup remover as it takes it all off with 1 or 2 swipes.
A bottle of Kanebo Eye Makeup remover costs RM38 for 120ml and is available at all Kanebo counters. I’d say its not too expensive because it can last you quite a long while.
