Share your first Blush story!

So I seem to have gained a bit of a reputation as a Blush Queen *adjusts my little tiara* ;) so, I thought it might be nice to share with you the story of my first blush.

My very first blush was a L’oreal Blush Delice blush in Rosy Cheeks. This was back in the days when I was young, foolish and had less choices than we do now. I had only one blush then and I used it every single day that I applied makeup. But I’m happy to say that the L’oreal Blush Delice blushes have to this day, remained one of my favourite blushes! (So I must have done something right!)

The texture of the L’oreal Blush Delice is par exellance and the shimmer is lovely but not over the top. I used to use the brush that was included in the package which served its purpose well, although it was a little hard to control some times. Incidentally, Rosy Cheeks is still my favourite colour of all the colours that have been released by L’oreal. It is the PERFECT rose pink and imparts the PERFECT colour to simulate blushing cheeks.

Yes, it was love then and it still is love now. And look, here’s a picture of the very first blush I have ever owned (and the very first blush I’ve ever nearly finished)!

L'oreal Blush Delice

The cover is broken but I keep it anyway and I use it from time to time. Its a reminder to me of what things used to be and how they should be i.e. I really should try to enjoy and finish up some of the stuff I have :)

Mine was an In2it blush in a light pink! I loved it so much that I finished the thing, and am on the 2nd one now!
Yes, like you, I still go back to it :-) Isn’t it sweet that some items are just classics and you never lose your love for it?

O’ Blush Queen, will you show us your collection, pleaaaseeee???

Love the Blush Delice! It’s also my first blush (I have it in Strawberry Tart) and it’s still going strong – always come back to it somehow or rather.

Good times :)

The memories of the first blush… not THAT long ago for me in 2003, maybe? It was a Maybelline Pure Blush in Pink Strawberries and I got it on the cheap for a grand price of SGD5!! It wasn’t something readily available in Singapore. I found it in the sale corner and it had Korean writing on the packaging. I love it though… the first time I used it, I went Wow!, cuz I didn’t know a nice blush could have such an enhancing effect. I still hv the blusher though, but I now only use it occasionally, rotating it with the other six blushers that I have accummulated. :)

Yes I agree, Blush Queen, show us ur blush collection!!! In fact, can u show us ur make up collection??

i agree, show lah! :)

mine was two+ yrs ago, silky girl in a peachy shade. decided to finally have make up for students’ annual dinner, and thats one of the first make up i own! its a tad orangey on sight, but gives a nice glow when applied. rather natural looking i reckoned. texture still nice. loved it then, loved it now!

its still around, not finished yet. used it once in a while to go with coral coloured look.

ehheee Mine is TBS’s blush. I forget the shade. It’s a rosey pink. I only had this one blush, after I finished it, I bought it again at TBS. The same color. Imagine that currently I have more than 30 blushes (have been minimized from over 50 blushes).

yeah PB….show us ur current collection…:)

Ahh … my first blush was something by Estee Lauder. My mum bought something from EL, and she got it as part of a gift-with-purchase pack. Can’t remember the actual name though.

I don’t have it with me now sadly. It’s sort of coral in colour, and I loved it so much that I actually hit pan (none of the blushes I have, nor eye shadows in fact, have ever hit pan), and had to use another one.

Haha Paris you are a blush queen. I remembered seeing your blush collection picture some time ago, and my jaw literally dropped. My blush collection has since grew too, after looking at yours :D

@Nikki : *giggles* You aren’t getting old! It probably wasn’t all that impressive to start with :)

@monstro: I’ve never tried in2it blushes though their eyeshadows were quite surprisingly decent quality for the price. There’s a pic somewhere in the archives that show my blushes at the time ;) Don’t faint :P

@Kim: I must agree with you. I don’t have strawberry tart but I have Rosy Cheeks and Rosewood and they are amazing for the price.

@KS : That is a lovely story! As for pics, let me think about it LOL…

@anis: Ah another of my favourite blushes – Silkygirl blushes are underrated. I think I know the colour you mean. Orange blushes are scary on sight, but when applied carefully they can be so flattering on.

@Reeka: I used to have a Body Shop blush too in #2 – the one touted as a Nars Orgasm lookalike – it was very pretty. Can’t imagine where its gone now.

@Tine : LOL yep you would remember that pic eh? :P You have accumulated a nice collection yourself. EL blushes are so soft they are underrated too!

@Natalie: I would do a challenge once I find the time. In fact I have like a million challenges to do LOL… in time I hope!

@prettybeautiful: I think its interesting how your first blush is a liquid blush because liquid blushes are notoriously hard to use for first timers! I myself have never gotten the hang of using one.

My first one was from Red Earth. It was on sale in Esprit and I think it costs me only AUD$5.00. It was a great colour and it’s long been discontinued. I’d used it up completely. My 2nd one was from Red Earth as well and after that, it was on to Dandelion which I love to bits. I’m on my 3rd box of Dandelion now.

@geekchic : I love how all our 1st blushes have seemed to be cheap, on sale or free! And actually finishing a Dandelion! Wow!

Hey Paris!!!

Mine’s L’Oreal’s Blush Delice too! I got it years ago at Kahani’s recommendation when I was still a makeup novice. I picked up True Rose, which was a luuuurvely pretty pinky-peach shade which perked up my complexion right away.

I did love it so much, I’ve blogged about it here.

There’s just that thing about first blushes, eh? And yes, please show us your collection now, blush queen. =P

My first blush? Silkygirl’s Nectar Blush. Though it was known as Wet n Wild that time. A few years back. A truly pretty, matte shade peachy pink~

It’s cheap, but the colour goes on so well! Just something natural for those days with early morning classes. I haven’t finish using it, since I use it quite sparingly, totally loving it! :D

I just wish they have more colour selection… :D

As i like natural makeup so i used to not even use blusher but just eyeliner and some foundation… but i used to use my mum’s blusher that comes in a shisheido makeup set when i really need to put some on … haha… so i had never really invest in any of the blusher until i had found out that gel blusher actually give a natural look, so to start experimenting i bought the elianto cheek stain gel which is cheap and i love it so much!!! i might consider buying the cheek and lip stain from TBS after i had finish this one!!! :)

My first blush is Benefit Dandelion and Benetint. I am still using the same one which i bought 3 years ago. Once it is done, i might want to try Nar Orgasam. :)

Gee… my first blush was a hand-me-down from mom… I used to sneak over to her room and use it and sooner or later, it became mine. It’s either Shiseido or Kose, I think (never turned it over to look at the brand!) and I still have it with me. It’s 3 color pan, so I use it to contour and give me the illusion of higher cheekbones. Pretty advanced for a first blush, I now think! *grin*

p.s. Like Tine, I remember the archive photo of your blush collection… updated photo can? *wink*

AWWWW. This post just made my heart melt.

My very first blush was my mom’s Lancome lipstick. I was 12 years old and began experimenting with makeup so I took her stuff. It was a brown shade (far be it for me to figure out which one) and I was crafty enough to use it as an eyeshadow too…very monochrome, very multiple if I do say so myself. Off course my blending skills weren’t quite there so I wound up looking like I had greasy brown smudges acorss my eyes and cheeks, and just plain dark brown lips.

Yeah the kids at school made fun of me, but they had no idea that a few years later they would be imitating me. Sighhh, it’s always tough to be a trailblazer.

:P

@fashionasia : Yay! Snap! The colour is really gorgeous.

@Syen: Yay for L’oreal blush Delice :) In time, maybe I will :P

@plue: That was my lament about Silkygirl’s blushes too – poor colour selection but then, I guess they just stuck with the more popular colours.

@pinkcloud: Ah I’m bad with gel or liquid blushes – never gives me the look I want. Glad they work for you.

@jojoba : Heh yep back in the day…

@bostonian: Wow! You started with Benetint? How brave of you :)

@rinnah: And you too m’dear were really brave to go with complex blushes. Advanced indeed!

@Elena: LOL… that was a fun story for sure.

ahhh… my first blush was back in high school. it was a covergirl (!!) blush called terracotta. that i bought at a georgetown (!!!!!) in SS3. it was i think a cream-to-powder blush, and it came with a sponge applicator. after a while i realized that the sponge wasn’t applying it well so i ditched it and used my fingers instead. i think i did pretty good for a 14 year old lol
