Gisele Bundchen Ipanema sandals

Apr 9, 2008

When I read about Kimberlycun’s Gisele Bundchen Ipanema sandals and how comfortable they were, I knew I had to check them out as my current pair of sandals are on the brink of giving up. Unfortunately, I did not have time to look at them locally, so during my weekend in Singapore, I went to track them down.

I finally found them at a Royal Sporting House store (also sold at Royal Sporting House in Malaysia) but they were out of my size in the sandals. I did try on the flip flops which were very comfortable.

The Gisele Bundchen line of flip flops and sandals is of course, inspired by the model of the same name. The sandals and flip flops are really soft and comfy on the feet. The foot bed was soft and flexible which I can expect would make for a good walking experience.

However, I overheard a girl saying as she tried on the flip flops “So nice, but I might as well get Bata!

And you know what? I’d probably do the same. Bata flip flops aren’t as pretty on the feet but the prices are.  That said, the Gisele Bundchen Ipanema sandals were sold out all over Singapore and the ones I did find were too small or too big for me.

The Gisele Bundchen flip flops and sandals retail for S$23.90 to S$39.90 and Kimberly says the sandals are RM69.90 in Malaysia. I’m tempted, I’m not saying I’m not. So, I’m staying far far away from Royal Sporting House for now. ;)

*sigh*…I so know how you feel girl…the price tag is the only drawback - I can just hear it…”You spent HOW MUCH on a pair of flip flops?!?!?!”…aiyaiyai…

I caved in. HELP! I really did. I tried not to, I tried walking out, but the shoes called me back in.

    I paid AUD39.95 for mine :(

    Beetrice: I know! And yet…

Tine: OMG! Now I really have to stay far far away from them LOL… AUD40 is damn siong man!

i like these! but i like croc shoes more! honestly, croc (not the big headed ones) are much better than these. i find crocs have more cushion. spongy? my easily cracked feet thank croc.

I saw them at RSH before The Star mentioned them… the pair I had my eye on were RM49.90 - NO WAY I was gonna spend that much on basically flip flops… unless they were on sale, haha.

But I bought a pair of Ipanemas anyway :P

Those look gorgeous-they so don’t look like flip flops to me…(justifying to self).

I think it’s all hyped up =) I’d rather get a pair of Teva. Good during rain good for walking and well, it’s super super long lasting but of course, it’s simplelah. Heh.

I tested my Birkies to its max already and I’m proud to say that I have not regretted buying it albeit being a whopping 200 bucks. It didn’t fail me in the rain, I can walk for hours in it without feeling a single tinge of pain AND most importantly, I recently injured my ankle real bad and couldn’t walk on normal slippers except Birkenstock’s. It practically absorbed the shock you get from walking on hard ground and helped me move around without worrying I would strain my ligaments further. The support it gave to my ankle was great and it’s even endorsed by podiatrists.

I don’t think any sandals out there can match up to Birkies. Heh. It’s worth the investment and if you want style, get the bling bling ones. I wear that on my dinner outing sometimes. I foresee these sandals lasting me till I’m become a mummy. Haha.

jojoba: I still can’t get my feet and head around crocs - sorry! I tried them in every design and nothing looked right on my feet. It just looked like blobs of plastic! But I guess thats what makes fashion sell - differing views :)

synical: LOL… Yours are pretty too. But I’m still thinking about those sandals…

Monstros: exactly what I was saying! They don’t look like Bata what… hehe

S-Kay: Ah! I just tested Birkenstocks and I think I must have them! They hold my feet so well even if they look really bulky on my feet! Thanks for the review. You’re making me want to go look at them again!

I’m a big fan of these sandals. Already have 3 and still looking to add more. You can also get them at Novo which probably carries a wider range of designs.

juz want to say that, i haf the other ipanema’s sandal, under the name grendha.. it’s pink in color and got nice prints on it.. it is really cute and i get compliments for my sandal everywhr… i bought it at RM20 at Royal Sporting House, 1 utama, it was on 50% sale (more like 50 ++ % cos it was retailed at RM49.90)

it is indeed very very comfy n cute, n i wear it everywhr i go.. to classes, to shopping malls… basically anywhr… n never it has failed me.

btw, ive tried the g.bundchen too, but it doesnt look good on my feet, thrfore i opted for grendha

I got mine at Novo too. Yeah AUD39.90 is nuts. Yet, I want another pair! :O I finally tried it out when I was out in town just now, and it was like I wasn’t wearing anything on my feet at all.

Really, girl, you should give it a go. Come on now, you know you want to ;)

PS: S-Kay, I saw the latest Birkies when I was in the city just now. OMG, why are the slippers now turning into Croc designs?!

  12. yarizhan  April 10, 2008 5:55 pm

  13. synical  April 10, 2008 10:37 pm

They say if you’re still thinking about buying something the next day or two weeks after, then you might as well get them :)

  14. irenekay  April 10, 2008 11:57 pm

I have one too but to be honest……it sorta hurt the arch between my big and 2nd toes (thong style)
Otherwise its pretty comfy…. got it around RM60 at Novo

My vote has to be Havaianas….. The most most COMFY flip flops!!!

KL doesnt seems to be popular its crazy in Ozzy and SG….

  15. geekchic  April 11, 2008 4:33 am

I think I should replicate my comment here and as well as on Tine’s site.

irenekay, I agree with you. I absolutely adore my havaianas! When I go back to M’sia for my holidays, I’m packing my havaianas and a pair of heels (for a wedding dinner). I could walk for HOURS in my havaianas. Of course, I’ll omit the fact that the pink is starting to look rather, errr… disgusting now :)

Hehe, Paris B, if you want economical flipflops, NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING will bear my RM7.90 registered sanrio hello kitty ones I got from Tesco. HAHAHAHAHAH :D I bought 3 pairs and my summer of not working, I spent walking around in them. Had to toss 1 pair at the end of summer :)

    *bear means *beat

Excuse my typing at 633am :)

  17. anne  April 12, 2008 4:40 am

hehe because of kim’s post i also went to get a pair. i found the white n gold one at stadium in MV. what size r u? i think thers a black one size 7, brown one size 8 there . and a blue one in bangsar shopping village

  18. ParisB  April 12, 2008 10:50 pm

Sesame: That good huh? I hope mine lives up to the hype! I’m not sure about your Novo but our Novo here carried a very limited range.

lalala: Oh I’ve seen the Grendha. I can’t wear those for some reason - none of the sizes fit! But they are very cute.

    Tine:I succumbed. Bad me!

yarizhan: Hope you enjoy your stay!

synical: Yep, which is why I’m giving it a few days to see.

irenekay: You’re right about the comfort level. Haven’t really seen havianas around in KL though. I’ve heard lots of good things about them.

geekchic: Some cheap stuff can’t be beat! Hello Kitty slippers sound cute!

Anne: Hehe… you too have succumbed. I opted for black for practicality.

  19. Sandra  July 27, 2008 9:21 pm

I got myself a pair of these sandals too, but in pink/clear combination, and they were worth every cent I gave for them. They are quite cheap where I bought them, only 15 Euro :) I’m so happy I found them, because no other sandal made my feet feel free and comfortable like these ones:) no Bata pair of shoes can make the foot feel like these ones;)
