I agree with you matchy-matchy is boring.If someone suscribe to the notions of matchy matchy then they must be prepared to burn a hole in their pockets to have such an extensive wardrobe.
But a total clash of color like a green bag and pink stilletoes is certainly a no-no.Or maybe yellow and blue although this colors are prescribed in art class.

Nah, I find the matchy-matchy too boring and rigid. Of course, if the colours clash like a sore thumb, then it’s a no-no. I like to mix and match mine
