This is the first in my Kanebo Blanchir skincare review series.

Kanebo Blanchir Make off Conditioner

The Blanchir Make Off Conditioner is actually an oil cleanser. Although oil cleansers are usually marketed to those who wear makeup to act as a makeup remover, Kanebo recommends this as the first part of its double-cleansing routine. They recommend that you use this first to clean your face of all inpurities and dirt before using another foaming cleanser.

I’ve used a bunch of cleansing oils before this, but I must say the Blanchir Make off Conditioner takes top points. The texture is clear and liquid unlike some other brands which are more viscous and thicker in texture. There is a light fragrance which I find rather soothing after a long day.

Because it is more liquid, I find that its easier to spread and you actually end up using less. I pump 2 pumps of the oil into my dry hands and spread it all over my face, then rinse it off with warm water while gently massaging my face.

This make off conditioner takes off makeup like a charm and because the texture is light, it doesn’t leave your face feeling sticky as some other oils do. It cleans off easily which is a bonus. I don’t like rubbing my face any more than is necessary and I found other cleansing oils did have a tendency to take a long time to remove.

My skin feels smooth and clean after using this, and you don’t really need another cleanser as is recommended. So, I sometimes don’t use another cleanser as I don’t see the need to. I did not have any reaction to this cleansing oil, unlike Shu Uemura Enriched cleansing oil and DHC Cleansing Oil. I will be reviewing these in due course.

This Make Off Conditioner retails at RM125 for 150ml at all Kanebo counters in department stores. Quite pricey but a bottle can last up to 3 months and I think its worth every dollar.

Pros: Liquid, Rinses off easily, Soothing Smell

Cons: Expensive

Rating: ★★★★★

A Beauty break

Taking a break from beauty for a bit to muse about blogging for money. I’ve just signed up with Smorty.com which is a blog advertising portal. Here are a few tips for anyone wanting to incorporate blog advertising into your website or blog.

  1. Try to fit the ads into the general theme of your site, so it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. I don’t sometimes follow this basic rule of thumb because some topics just cannot be merged no matter how hard you try. Where I can, I keep to my site theme, but where I can’t, I try to stick as closely as I can. It helps if you have a general sort of site that allows you to write anything you want, but if you have a niche site, it’s a lot harder to blend advertisements. Just do your best but don’t make it contrived.
  2. Allow ads to stand out. Some ads need to stand out to be effective. Its like when you watch television. If all ads were to blend in with the movie, nothing will grab your attention. So, what television ads do is try to stand out and remain memorable and blog ads aim to do the same. It doesn’t have to be jarring if tastefully done.
  3. Don’t forget the reason you set up a site/blog. Its easy to be carried away when you get paid for blogging, but do think of the reason you set up your site. In most cases, you would have nurtured the site, ad-free for at least 90 days before being accepted by blog advertisers. This is the period when you get your readership following and you don’t want to drive them away.

These are some tips I try to follow and I hope they help someone. And now, on to our regular scheduled programme! ;)

M.A.C Cosmetics is commonly known as just MAC, as in the computer and as in Big Mac. It is a line of cosmetics that has a large following all around the world. To many, to use (or in makeup parlance, wear) MAC is considered having reached the pinnacle of makeup mastery.

I however, do not number among the MAC fans. These are my reasons after the jump. There’s More! Continue reading →

Make sure you are comfortable with your estate broker

This is a non beauty and fashion post but more of a warning to you if you want to sell your house. We had a bad experience with a real estate broker recently, who had approached us to try to sell our house. They were underhanded and tried to make us sell it for a price way below what we were asking for because they said another agent had quoted that lower price. We were appalled at the bad-mouthing of other agents by this one. It was very unprofessional especially coming from a large real estate company. So, the next time you are planning to buy or sell your house, make sure you are comfortable with your agent and that you feel you can trust them, before you let them take up the assignment. As for us, fortunately, we sold it to someone else without having to go through this particular agent so we were quite pleased.
