Graduation is a subject close to my heart because someone very dear to me is graduating after 3 years of study. Considering he was studying as a matured student after retirement is an achievement in itself. So, I’m on the lookout for some nice graduation gifts. I looked around online and found some classic choices for gifts, even personalized graduation gifts.
A popular choice is a paperweight. This gift assumes that the graduate will be working at a desk and will need a paperweight to hold all his papers in place. I think this gift will suit someone older with a potentially desk bound job, rather than a young and mobile executive who will likely have a floating desk and a laptop from which he can work from anywhere.

The same goes with a gift of say, photo frames or pictures of the graduate’s alma mater. It will help of course if the graduate has fond memories of his college or university. You don’t want your gift stuck away in the attic or garage somewhere because the graduate couldn’t wait to leave. Getting it personalized with the graduate’s name and picture of the school is of course a nice touch. That is, unless you aren’t sure where the graduate went to.
I prefer to stick to giving pens. I always figure that everyone will need a pen at some point in their life and a good pen will last a long time. You can also get that personalized with the graduate’s name and graduating year if you like. I’m not sure what I’m getting for now.
