Update : Using Olive Oil on the face

Apr 20, 2007

I’ve been on an olive oil cleansing regime for 1 week.

In this time, I’ve realised that I’d been having a sudden increase in spots, some of which are of the hidden painful variety. These were in places I haven’t had spots for a while i.e my forehead and cheeks.

I’ve only added the olive oil into my skincare regime so I’m going to go out on a limb and say its attributed to that. Maybe my combination skin cannot take the oil as the spots are in places which tend to get oily during the day.

So, for now, I’m stopping this and going back to my regular cleansing with makeup remover and/or cleansing oils and foaming cleansers. I guess the olive oil was just too rich for me. It might be better for those with dry skin.

For now, the olive oil goes back into the kitchen. Its great with crusty bread and balsamic vinegar by the way ;)

Hey PB… try not to use oil on T-zone if you have oily skin, tends to lead to a break out. Actually.. I think olive oil is ok on skin but on face… I’m a little skeptical :)

Hi PB.. be careful of putting any oil on combination skin, esp on T-zone… can lead to break out easily :) ON skin maybe ok but then hor, I still feel funny about the smell of olive oil on skin :)

Maybe its because its cleansing your skin. I’ve heard that when products are working in cleaning and purifying your skin they work from the inside out. So maybe this is why. I’m going to try it tonight and I will update also because I have comination skin as well. My skin is a little oily around my nose chin and forehead throughout the middle of the day and very very dry around the upper part of my lip between my nose and upper lips so we’ll see.

Doris: Heh… I think I’ll keep to eating the oil instead of using it hehe…

Fiori: Oh it would be nice if you could update us on your progress with using Olive Oil. Why I got wary with it is because I never had problems with other forms of cleansing before this, and Vitamin E oil doesn’t give me the bumps.
